I use Brave as my primary browser. I do not have any issues with the browser as it provides all the services a typical browser would provide. In addition to that, it is extremely popular with crypto newbies since it is lauded as a non-invasive alternative to Google Chrome. Users who actually care about privacy and Google's intrusion will definitely like to try the version that is equally good but sensitive to private information.

Is Brave really privacy sensitive? Does it not collect any info?

I have never looked into this. My attitude towards this browser is to believe what they are doing and not question it. And, since it is providing me the service I need, I have never analyzed it critically.

The rewards token is key for me

One of the major reasons that I downloaded Brave browser was the rewards system they build around it. I downloaded brave browser right after I joined in May 2020. I think someone on Hive posted about Brave browser and the benefits it has over other competitions. I was sold by the creative rewards system. Who does not like to get rewarded for using a product that provides service to you? I tried to get into the details of the rewards system. I provided referrals, tried using the tip feature on Twitter and Reddit and interacted with the devs.

I still use Brave browser but the rewards have dried up lately. I do not get enough tokens for using it as a primary browser. However, I do not worry too much about the rewards these days. It may be due to the fact that I have other crypto projects to think about and Brave rewards became little mundane compared to other projects.

Having said that, the structure and communications side of rewards have improved impressively in the last two years. The browser home page looks sleek. The project has made significant partnerships with other projects like Gemini, Binance, CDC which is good for users trying to link their crypto accounts. In addition to that, the Brave Ads are also considered highly by users and I can see mainstream advertisers recognizing the value of advertisement on this application. The adoption of Brave ads shows how far the product has come in terms of its reach.

WEB 3.0 and Brave

The ongoing development- 50 million Monthly Active Users (MAUs)

You cannot ignore the fact the browser is gaining major popularity. A recent announcement from Brave notes that there are more than 50 million monthly active users in December 2021 which is double from the number they reported in December 2020. They managed to double the engagement in a year which is incredible. They also have 15.5 million daily active users.

All other metrics they posted are impressive and suggest massing growth happening in the space. They have 1.3 million verified creators in the space and over 8 million users are earning BAT as rewards. Not only that they have launched Brave search as a beta program in summer 2021, announced Brave calls and delivered native Brave wallets on Web and Mobile. All these features are favouring Brave heavily.

With the adoption and the features that they are adding, Brave is quickly becoming the product that you do not want to miss when Web3.0 really hits the market. Hive is never considered in CT as a web3.0 product but Brave has not missed any influencer’s list. Rightly so. I strongly believe that Brave will be at the center stage for web3.0 projects. They have the advantage of being an early mover with all the infrastructure needed to support and promote web 3.0 ethos.

I will write a review of their wallets in a separate post. It is not yet a polished product but the announcement and connections they are having with multiple blockchains to support their native coins is huge from ease-of-use perspectives.

I am pretty bullish. What do you think Hive?
