One of the coolest part of being involved in cryptocurrency is the ability to get completely surprised with airdrops and giveaways for doing nothing more than using the services that you enjoy.

When it comes to DeFi, getting involved with swapping on different DEX's or providing liquidity and earning rewards puts you in a position to get governance token airdrops from the platform.

With groups like Ampleforth, people got tokens just for transacting on their network.

@splinterlands has been airdropping every day for holding assets in their game and earning money every day battling against other users.

The beauty of all of these airdrops is that nothing special was required beyond doing what you already wanted to do anyways; a cherry on top if you will.

On January 6th, we will see this trend continue here on the Hive blockchain with airdrops for 3Speak and Ragnarok.

What Is 3Speak?

This is a dApp on the Hive network that is essentially our equivalent of a Youtube, but follows the curation monetization theme of Hive and is a fully immutable platform. They are seeking to provide solutions to the issues we see in society regarding sensorship and video custody with their new network and airdrop.

What Is Ragnarok?

This is a blockchain-based play to earn game here on Hive that will be based on the concepts from Norse Mythology. The game appears to share some similarities to Splinterlands as well as a game called Hearthstone where users will collect in game cards to compete against one another and win in-game resources.

I think that you would be better served checking out @ragnarok.game 's account for specifics on game design and gameplay, but this has huge potential to peak the interest of the Hive community and bring a whole new genre of players over to the blockchain.

Here is a piece of artwork from the upcoming Ragnarok game by @ragnarok.game and @theycallmedan 's team.

The Airdrops

Both of these airdrops will be based on how much Hive/Hive Power users have in their account at the time of the snapshot for the airdrops.

The goal seems to be to reward active and well-invested members of the Hive ecosystem for their dedication and get them involved in the projects. I am a fan of this, though I've run different types of airdrops in the past because it is hard to argue that those with large investments and accounts don't have a vested interest in the success of the ecosystem.

These airdrops should be pretty successful at extending the influence of the Hive community and increasing the depth of our community at the same time. It pays to get involved with the things you really like to do when it comes to crypto; I enjoy being on Hive and now it is paying even more direct dividends than it already was... Very exciting stuff ahead.
