YES

Now that the obvious answer is out of the way let's discuss why. I started using the Hive Blockchain in November of 2020. I did not know much about cryptocurrency beyond the fact that it could make you rich and that Bitcoin will be more valuable than gold.

I wanted a way of making money while being able to learn more about cryptocurrency and logically found my way onto Publish0x and Leo Finance. Additionally, I wanted to begin building a network of people who could help me figure out the direction I wanted my life to start heading in.

The problem with starting out on any social network is that you start from the bottom: 0 followers. The connections that you have with people on platforms that reward content creation can be assigned not only a symbolic meaning but a physical monetary value. If you tweet to a crowd of zero you don't lose or gain anything, but when you post a blog to a crowd of zero you are missing out on value through content curation.

But how do you gain followers?

Well it goes without saying that producing quality articles and posts can lead to people noticing your content. When starting out I was lucky enough to generate views from @rollandthomas and @onealfa and that can be very motivating. But you can't rely on whale votes for your earnings, they have to spread the love and can't like all of your work. The key to gaining a following and creating a network is very simple: comment on other people's posts.

I am not a giant account, but growing from zero followers to 37 followers has felt like a big gain. The hardest part of accomplishing anything is starting out. I spent the months of January and February commenting on at least 5 posts per day, usually around 10-15 posts. Through this I was able to generate interest in doing a few interviews with great people like @katerinaramm , @nonsowrites , @pvmihalache and more.

I was also able to have many great conversations with intelligent people including @taskmaster4450le , @nathanmars , @edicted , @hivecoffee and more. Not only am I gaining knowledge through my interactions with them, but also generating revenue through that engagement.

If you comment 70 times a week, that's a chance at 70 conversations that will make you better off in numerous ways. There are a lot of people who recommended this strategy to me in the beginning of my journey and they were absolutely right. Be relentless in your engagement and people will begin reaching out to you first one day.

I wanted to share this for all of the people who are just beginning their journey or those who are feeling frustrated with a slow start. There is more to the formula than just making posts. You have to provide your attention to others to receive the same attention back.
