I'll begin by saying that I am absolutely not an artist. I have always been told that my art is not so good and that it is not something that I should pursue. I am actually ok with that. However, after hearing about the #ragnaroklogo contest, I thought of a concept that I really liked so why not go for it anyways.

I actually went out and signed up for a free trial with Adobe Photoshop because I did not have any apps on my computer that I could make the edit with. It took me about three hours to piece together everything that I needed to create my concept and though it could be cleaner, I am happy with the way it came out relative to my idea.

I drew inspiration from something that was said in an early @ragnarok.game post about the characters in the game. When I think of Norse mythology and what I knew about it before that post, I really only knew of Thor and the stuff they show in superhero movies. I did not realize that there were other, and also more powerful Gods in Norse mythology.

After doing some research, it turns out the three main Gods of Norse mythology are Thor, Odin and Freyr (along with many minor Gods). With that in mind and also noting that the game will be based on chess (another game that I love), I thought it would be interesting to make the chess pieces symbolize the Gods in the logo. So I literally went and found symbols that are representative of those Gods and edited them onto some chess pieces. Here is what I was able to come up with for the contest:

Going left to right:

The symbol that represents Freyr is somehow meant to represent peace, abundance and fertility (not sure how, but that is what I found out doing some research).

The symbol that represents Odin is the Valknut and is representative of the transition between life and death.

The symbol that represents Thor is of course the hammer and it's ability to create lightning (the image that is located as the base background layer)

Though I am happy with the concept, I know that my photoshop skills are lacking and thus there are parts of the image that would need work if the concept is something that the team liked. With three hours of training, this is the best that I could do, I really had a fun time doing it and I am glad to be involved with this contest. Really looking forward to playing the game and getting to start early on what might very well be the next huge P2E success.

Thank you!
