The world has changed a lot in a positive way in the last decades; so we have seen unprecedented advances in many areas of knowledge. The way I see it, one of those great advances has been blockchain technology.

I am trying to catch up with all the knowledge related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology

As those who read me well know, my profession belongs to the area of health sciences, so my interest in the area of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies may seem a bit strange, but it is not so much, if we understand that the blockchain technology has possible applications in almost all fields of human knowledge; and that it will only be a matter of time before these changes are implemented.

On the other hand, cryptocurrencies are gaining more and more space in the field of means of payment. So it's no wonder I'm interested in both. Also, after all I am in Hive, which is a medium or platform that is an exponent and faithful example of Web 3.0, a social medium that rewards the content published by its users with cryptocurrencies.

Now, don't any of you think for a second that I understand very deeply what I'm talking about. The reality is that I have done a little research on the Internet, and also recently a colleague from one of the clinics where I work began to talk to me about these issues regularly. The aforementioned colleague is a technology geek in general and especially blockchain technology; therefore, he has explained so many things to me in the last days, that I think I have been assimilating and understanding a little better what it is all about.

Blockchain technology is useful in the medical field

But what interested me most about everything he told me was that in the midst of all the explanations he gave me, he came to a part in which he said that blockchain technology would, in the future, be the owner of all the medical records of all the people. Without a doubt, I believe that this will be quite a big achievement, that is, due to the fact that all doctors can access the medical records of their patients in a decentralized and systematized way, from anywhere in the world; simply using a computer or smartphone and Internet.

Now, I thought, that's the positive part of all of this, but the negative part is that there should be some level of filtering for this breakthrough that I just mentioned; because it is one thing for us doctors to have unlimited access to the medical records of our patients, and quite another for anyone (regardless of whether they are health personnel or not) to have access to this kind of personal and sensitive information.

This is a legitimate concern, because blockchain technology, from what I understand, is accessible to everyone, so I don't know how programmers will develop such a filter to solve this problem. Still, I think they'll find a way to do it in the years to come. And the truth is that I have no idea if there is already a project or team of developers working on creating all this; but if it is not so; They should do it now, because it is undoubtedly a great window of opportunity, as they say in the business world.

So, we'll see each other when we see each other!
