In the spirit of progress,

I wrote an impromptu parody patch update for the next expansion of dCITY.

There have been some spooky things happening in dCITY since Halloween so if you haven't been actively playing you should check it out!

Before anyone asks me if this is real, I just want to reiterate that this is a parody patch, and I am in no way affiliated with the development of the game unless you consider voting for the president.

Attention players of dCity!

We have just released a spooky update for the game, bringing some fearsome new features and gameplay elements to haunt your city.

New features include:

  • Ghost: A new type of citizen spawns from the remains of our dearly departed deceased citizens. Can be placed into The Haunted Mansion to increase stats or into other buildings for unexpected visitors.
  • Undead: The zombie apocalypse has come, and your citizens have now turned away from the natural processes of life seeking to devour and infect all other native citizens.
  • The Haunted Mansion: A new type of building that brings a chill to your citizens' bones.
  • The Ghost Ship: This ethereal vessel will sail through your city, causing havoc and terror.
  • The Zombie Apocalypse: Beware, as the undead rise from their graves to attack your city.

These new additions come with a cost. The spirits of the haunted mansion and ghost ship will drain the happiness of your citizens, and the zombie apocalypse will spread rapidly unless properly contained.

SPOOKY CITIZEN FARMING as Passive Income

After some leaderboard research and extensive reading, I decided to make a few changes to the strategy going forward with dCITY.

With taxes at a consistent all-time high the leaderboards are still competitive in all areas.

The most profitable path with NFTs right now is to farm citizens and experiment on them making them sick(99.99% chance for sick citizen and .01% chance for a number of other super* citizens) to get the SIM tax refund.

The number one income for the leaderboard is @armero which has taken this strategy to the bank.

This experimental citizen phase started around Halloween and had super spooky vibes to it & the future of these citizens inspiring this grim post.

If you notice right now the citizen market is really high for individual citizens but

You can still pick up a few homeless and experiment on them for less than the cost of a sick citizen. *

The immigrants, workers, artists, and scientists have an abnormal price action result from the sick citizen epidemic.

This can only be the result of a feature in the experiment that turns these +2 Population cards into a single citizen card.

For those looking to get into the game or back into the game you will need to completely disregard the income of regular cards and optimize for tax refunds and popularity for citizen farming.

This requires some research as each person's budget will have to be optimized accordingly.

My suggestion for newcomers would be to just buy and hold SIM until you feel knowledgeable enough from studying the market to make your budget into a viable and profitable dCITY.

You may enjoy the HIVE rewards that come from hodling SIM as a purely passive income rated at 29% APR last time I checked.

The most important stat for citizen farming is popularity.

From the dCITY Info page:

"Players with positive income and more than 50 popularity have a chance to receive free citizens cards (Homeless, Immigrants, Young Citizen and Student). More popularity means higher chance to receive a citizen card, limited to 1 free citizen card daily."

Some of the building cards have really high ratios for SIM to Popularity because they have a smaller supply or provide other valuable stats.

Right now, the Park card has a really strong market presence at 650 SIM and the Farm card is going for 728 SIM both provide 5 Popularity.

However, the best deal for Popularity can be found in the Job Center card at 448 SIM floor price for 7 Popularity.

I snapped up 10 myself at 444 just now writing this.

The card has basically maintained its same value after its initial release for the life of the game, so it's being undervalued for the popularity gains.

The Farm and Park have wider valuations across this time and may not be considered as a desirable deal with the necessary popularity for citizen farming.

Anyways at 50 Popularity you will qualify for a 2% daily citizen NFT creation.

This can be achieved for less than a dollar investment into 10x basic homes and 10x job centers.

My test city with 150 Popularity did not receive an increase in daily citizen chance but I have a sneaking suspicion that 100 more would have pushed it to 3%.

This type of citizen farming operation is the floor for dCITY.
