Not sure if the above photo is accurate. That’s the only free picture I can get from pexels.com. Googling “cocoon,” there are clearer photos, but I am not sure if they are safe to use and that is why I am settling on that simple photo.

Seeing a moth breaking from its cocoon is usually used to illustrate the need to struggle to develop one’s “muscles,” which are necessary to grow in life. If one compassionate person would help the moth remove the shell of the cocoon, he is harming rather than doing good by not allowing the insect to develop its body.

I want to expand this illustration into the crypto space. I am trying to understand and it’s human to lament the current downtrend in the crypto space. However, those who confidently affirm that they are in the sector for the long term should maintain a different mindset and attitude. If this is the case, the current market price of the token should be embraced with gladness for this is giving us a rare opportunity to grow our stakes.

I see the existing dominant negative market sentiment as the “cocoon” long-term holders have to overcome for us to develop the muscles necessary both for financial growth and prosperity. If we want to cut the process short, it might do more harm than good. The “mooning” mindset, the hypes, and the get-rich-quick scheme mentality will just continue and I don’t see them as helpful for the long-term sustainability of both the blockchain and the cryptocurrency.

We should embrace the current downturn with gladness not because of the pain it gives us, but because of the prospect for growth. We should not be in a hurry to get out of this slump not until we appreciate the importance of continuous development of the infrastructure required for the sector to thrive.

To embrace this extended crypto winter with gladness seems to be unreasonable. How can one be happy while in pain? Isn’t this a kind of masochism? No, it is not. By God’s grace, I try to keep this attitude not because of the downturn itself, but because of the beneficial results that will come out of it that can only be realized after some time. It is the future anticipation of the outcome two to three years from now or perhaps even more that made me welcome the current slump with gladness.

I arrived at this kind of reflection after reading a chapter from one book titled “Growing through Adversity.” Many people like growth, whether financial or whatever, but they often resist the process of struggling to come out of their “cocoon.” I hope that an increasing number of Hivers will avoid such a mentality and embrace instead the existing price decline even with just a smile though this crypto winter will last more than what many expect.

Grace and peace!
