Companies at a point in their life depending on the liquidity they possess, and other factors can be listed on a stock exchange, with the intention that many investors can acquire their shares. In today's post, I will tell you about Coinbase, the first cryptocurrency exchange company listed on the stock exchange.

Coinbase, which was founded in 2012 by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam, reported $1.8 billion in estimated revenue in the first three months of 2021, becoming very attractive for listing on the stock exchange market.

This company Coinbase is one of the leading platforms for buying and selling bitcoins and other digital currencies is platform and digital wallet.

Coinbase launched on the stock exchange at a historic moment for the cryptocurrency market, where bitcoin is overcoming barriers and the market is optimistic. Nasdaq gave as a reference price for the sale of the shares the value of US$ 250, this price is not an offer price but a benchmark.

Coinbase went public this Wednesday, 04/14/2021; Shares were sold under the symbol "COIN" and debuted with a value of US$381, and Coinbase reached a market value of almost US$100 billion. As of the time of writing this post the shares are trading at US$342, if there is any doubt these shares have piqued the interest of investors.

Cryptocurrencies in the institutional world

Cryptocurrencies in the traditional financial world have been little accepted, on the other hand, there are investors who want to take advantage of this boom of cryptocurrencies, but perhaps they feel afraid to invest directly in any cryptocurrency due to its volatility, these people perhaps are the ones who now have the opportunity to get involved in the world of cryptocurrencies through Coinbase shares.

However, from what I was reading, in Coinbase's documents to be listed, they point out that the value of their company essentially depends on the price of crypto-assets and the volume of transactions made on their platform.

Despite this, the fact that Coinbase is achieving this result and that its shares are already on the stock exchange awakens greater interest in cryptocurrencies on the part of that public that did not know about them or was skeptical, in addition to giving cryptocurrencies institutionalization, initiating what could be a new stage of greater adoption for the ecosystem.

While, it is true, that many events are happening that favor the adoption of blockchain and cryptocurrencies; the rise of NFTs, the optimism for bitcoin and other cryptos, but this event also adds a lot of value and changes the history of cryptocurrencies significantly.
