Everything Eventually Gets Restructured

Economies are what we all rely on in order to make a living and enjoy having access to goods and services. Essentially, providing a service generates revenue, while simultaneously bringing about trade and creating employment. This is the “flow” that is required to ensure that an economy remains healthy and sustainable.

Many countries around the world are currently experiencing tremendous resistance in terms of growing their economies. I believe that what we know and understand, in terms of an economy, is about to change. Not that the current models will disappear, but that an entirely new “element” will arise.

Digital ecosystems are fast becoming places of economic activity. Even conventional business models are adapting digital incorporation, and subsequently creating digital ecosystems by default. Traditional employment is being abandoned for digital alternatives. Crypto and blockchain are prime examples.

Looking at Hive, we can envision a future economy. Even at this stage, there is evidence of Hive displaying economic activity. More and more activity is about to be carried out on blockchains with Crypto inherent properties and dynamics. Ecosystems are becoming the economies of tomorrow.

What Does This Mean?

Essentially, there is a “remodeling” taking place, in terms of what a general economy is comprised of. Yes, certain aspects of economic activity will always be present, but as we encounter the rise of digital ecosystems, we will simultaneously experience a metamorphosis.

I often think of Hive as an independent economy. An economy that provides services, goods, financial services, and even “employment”. The rise of ecosystems that are multi-faceted is likely to spike in the coming years. These ecosystems are in essence small economies that are able to empower and provide.

I believe that many will leave the traditional working environment in favor of operating within these independent economies. AI is likely to help many initiate the shift, as many roles within the traditional economy and the working world are about to become obsolete.

Investopedia provides a rather conclusive description of what an economy is and how it operates:

An economy is a complex system of interrelated production, consumption, and exchange activities that ultimately determines how resources are allocated among all the participants. The production, consumption, and distribution of goods and services combine to fulfill the needs of those living and operating within the economy.

I especially enjoy the part that explains how the combination of these activities is to “fulfill the needs of those living and operating within the economy”. Isn’t this where current economic models are failing, and although we need them, we also require additional economic constructs that fulfill the primary goal of an economy?

This is where I believe economies will become fragmented. Typical economic constructs will continue to service and provide for certain needs, while additional constructs will begin providing independence for those who are being sidelined or overlooked in the broader economy.

This development is likely to bring about significant expansion via smaller economic constructs operating within existing economies. This is the beginning of change, a metamorphosis that takes place from within. As time passes, so do the needs of humankind, and subsequently, the economies that provide for them.

Final Thoughts

Development and change simultaneously provide opportunities for those who are awake and observant. Change is coming, and in many ways, has already begun. How we view economies five years from now will be somewhat different. The parameters are being adjusted, together with the inclusion of new and exciting developments. We are standing at the precipice of a new and exciting chapter that will no doubt bring a plethora of opportunities to those who are willing to do and dare.
