A quiet place has been one of the most interesting cinematic phenomena in recent years. A low-budget film that has grossed a lot and has decreed a great exploit for the horror genre. An even more important exploit if we think that the genre itself came out upset, in a positive sense of course. Director John Krasinsky, who also starred in the film, gave us a film that was practically silent, but which was able to make us scream with fear thanks to a tense, constantly tense atmosphere and a brilliant stunt on which everyone in the film tried to stand up, succeeding very well. The horror genre mixed with the apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic films. We find ourselves, in fact, in a post-apocalyptic world where strange and ruthless creatures kill human beings without qualms. Their thirst for blood is generated by sound. They are in fact blind creatures that we see but who have a super developed hearing thanks to which they are able to intercept and kill their prey. Man will therefore be forced to adapt to this new state of affairs. To do so, he will begin to live a silent life. He will walk barefoot, lock himself up in dens more and more acoustically isolated, he will communicate through sign language in order to survive. This brilliant idea allows the film to travel constantly on the edge of tension, keeping the viewer anchored to the chair and to experience those atmospheres typical of the horror genre. At the same time there will be a constant curiosity in knowing where those creatures came from and how the world is reacting to that invasion. What is amazing, besides the always excellent Emily Blunt, is how Krasinsky has been able to develop excellent stories and characters. Little things scattered along the way that allowed to build a simple but surprising, cohesive but unexpected story. A truly excellent film that paved the way for a new way of doing horror, a horror with very little blood and very little need to make unimaginable things happen but without construction. A very solid and very successful film that not surprisingly is about to be released in theaters with a sequel that promises to be a great success right from the start.

Ci troviamo, infatti, in un mondo post apocalittico dove delle strane e spietate creature uccidono gli esseri umani senza remore. La loro sete di sangue viene generata dai suoni. Sono infatti creature cieche quelle che vediamo ma che hanno un udito super sviluppato grazie al quale riescono ad intercettare e uccidere le proprie prede. L'uomo sarà dunque costretto ad adattarsi a questo nuovo stato delle cose. Per farlo inizierà a vivere una vita silenziosa. Camminerà a piedi nudi, si rinchiuderà in tane sempre più isolate acusticamente, comunicherà attraverso il linguaggio dei segni pur di sopravvivere. Questa idea geniale permette al film di viaggiare costantemente sul filo della tensione, tenendo lo spettatore ancorato alla sedia e di provare quelle atmosfere tipiche del genere horror. Al tempo stesso ci sarà una curiosità costante nel conoscere da dove siano arrivate quelle creature e come il mondo stia reagendo a quella invasione. Quello che stupisce, oltre alla sempre eccellente Emily Blunt, è come Krasinsky sia stato in grado di sviluppare egregiamente storie e personaggi. Piccole cose disseminate lungo il cammino che hanno permesso di costruire un racconto semplice ma sorprendere, coeso ma inaspettato. Un film veramente eccellente che ha aperto la strada ad un nuovo modo di fare horror, un horror con pochissimo sangue e pochissima necessità di fare accadere cose inimmaginabili ma senza costrutto. Un film solidissimo e di grande successo che non a caso si appresta ad uscire nelle sale con un sequel che si preannuncia sin da subito un grandissimo successo.
