To many people what Metakovin did was insane and pointless but to dumb people geniuses often appears insane. Paying 69 million for a Jpeg seem like a insane if not stupid move...

What he did was buying instant fame and build buzz for his company metapurse and his numerous projects. All the sudden he is headline news on all the world news and media. You really cant buy this kind of publicity or advertising. And probably behind this he and his friends ( i am thinking Nifty Gateway amd the Vandervoss twins) already owned a couple of beeples and for sure he already owned alot of crypto. Remember this news was a huge pump for cryptocurrency as well. (which happens to be the majority of his holdings)
