Hive Peerplay Collaboration

AS I read the tweet by @lordbutterfly announcing a Hive-Peerplays collaboration, resulting in a DEX coming to the Hive blockchain, I marveled at the recent high level of activity on the Hive blockchain. I also marveled at this specific bit of news, as it was an apparent first, a collaboration between two Graphene based DPOS type systems. It struck me that perhaps this was the real way forward for mass adoption of decentralization and the blockchain; collaboration, instead of competition.

Competition

The polarization within the cryptocurrency subculture is perhaps not readily apparent, until you dig deeper when choosing your crypto investments. While I expect the various supporters to convince me to invest based on the utility and merits of the coin and their roadmap. Most also start criticizing other communities, as a way to build up their own, clearly a logical fallacy, but a widespread strategy.

Discouraging

I find it discouraging and a turnoff when someone tries to elevate their project, by disparaging another project. Projects should stand or fall on their own merit. This verbal ossing sticks or stones is a primitive activity. It should be part of our collective past, and we should evolved away from it.

Divided we fall

I am truly a believer that when we paint one cryptocurrency with a bad project brush, we are really lowering the reputation of all crypto. I think that in truth most new people you recruit into crypto aren’t informed enough to distinguish between many of the cryptos other then price. Your criticism of one project frequently sounds like criticism of all projects.

Unfortunately, many people who are real knowledgeable about crypto can no longer understand the viewpoint or mindset of people outside crypto. Thus they don’t understand how they are actually shooting themselves in the foot. An American idiom meaning you are actually making your own project look bad also.

I believe we should spend more time extolling the benefits of cryptocurrency and the blockchain, and less pointing out what’s wrong with it.

Collaboration

It was with these thoughts in mind, that I enjoyed the news of this coming collaboration with PeerPlay. The thought of a DEX on Hive offering tokens not currently available is exciting. We have been blessed with Hive-Engine and everything the Hive-Engine development team has provided us. But the Hive-Engine team has showed us the benefits of collaboration with their cross-blockchain forays. The growth and spread of Splinterlands across three? Blockchains is evidence of this. Plus the recent announcement of the one millioneth Splinterlands Account is a partial validation of all efforts to offer the game to a larger audience, i.e. cross blockchain.

Collaboration, working with the developer, marketing and other talented members of other blockchains, can only make us collectively smarter and wiser through shared knowledge and experiences. I believe this is a good path forward, and such a revolutionary positive path is appropriate for the equally revolutionary tokenized social media economy of Hive, anthe Hive Blockchain.

The End for now…
