Upvotes and the Hive abundance economy

I am amazed at this new award badge I received from Hive Buzz, it means I have upvoted other posts and comments 50,000 times. I think it's a truly remarkable feat. But that's not the most remarkable thing, the most remarkable thing is that none of these votes took money out of my wallet!

Not from my wallet, but from the reward pool

The truly remarkable thing about this is that these votes, which convey true money rewards in the form of Hive come from the reward pool, not my wallet!

The Reward Pool

The Hive blockchain mints new Hive every day, and a portion goes to the reward pool and is paid to Hive bloggers according to how many and how much their upvote rewards are, and to the curators (those who upvote others content/posts) according to how much Hive they have staked (called powering up here).

In an amazing display of the Hive Abundance economy the newly minted Hive or as @edicted is fond of saying Token Inflation is distributed to those who provide content and those who contribute to the growth, stability or uniqueness of the Hive community and the Hive blockchain.

Abundance not scarcity

In such an economy where Tokens are minted every day, and people who create quality content are rewarded every day, you give not from your wallet, but from the reward pool, which is replenished every day. This is abundance, not scarcity, not unlike the infamous Biblical Mana, which came every day, and perished if not used.

The Candle

There is a poem, which says that a single candle can light a 100 others and its light will not be diminished, but will still burn bright. Something similar is true on Hive.

Here on Hive you can upvote 100 others and in so doing, direct rewards to their wallets from the reward pool. And these upvotes will not reduce your wallet balance in any way..

..in fact it does the opposite, as you are also rewarded with Hive, as those you upvote are rewarded.

50,000 upvotes

I have upvoted 50,000 posts or comments here on Hive, and none of that has come from my wallet. It is all from the reward pool.

I can honestly say it while it has cost me much time and much effort to achieve this. It cost me only my initial capitol invested in Hive, and the subsequently additions each payday to achieve my voting power, and this voting power or HP allows me influence over the reward pool.
And it is this influence, which directs the actual rewards to the wallets of those I upvote, from the reward pool and not my wallet.
