YouTube Ban Hammer

YouTube, arguably the largest video blogging platform on the planet, a statement I qualify only because I don't know if there is a larger one in India or China, is a privately owned platform, and thus retains the right to remove users from the platform anytime and at it's descretion for violations of it's Terms Of Service Agreement. The most important thing here is that YouTube decides when you have violated the Terms of Service and once banned you are immediately removed, and although you can appeal, such an appeal can take 6 months. Thus your YourTube channel being banned is basically the kiss of death or a one way trip to oblivion.

Recently two very popular organizations Bankless and Leofinance were banned from YouTube. Coincidentally both channels dealt with Cryptocurrency, and both had thousands of loyal followers. Coincidence? I think not.

Bankless is literally devoted to helping you learn how to free yourself from banks. Bankless promotes cryptocurrency, is run by two Ethereum Maximalists' and encourages freedom, independent thought and financial independence. All through learning about crytocurrency, blockchain, decentralized finance and NFTs. Bankless has had on their program celebrities like Vitalic Buterin.

Leofinance is very similar to Bankless in that Leofinance is devoted to creating a community of people interested in learning about financial independence, cryptocurrency, blockchain and decentralized finance.

Surprisingly, both Leofinance and Bankless were banned from YouTube in the same week!

I read this Tweet from the Bankless account on Twitter announcing their YouTube Ban:

The Bankless @YouTube account 'has been terminated' 🪓

The Bankless founder protested tht this ban came with:

No warning. No notification.
No justification
And that their channel on YouTube had: 150,000 subs 10,000+ hours of content

They Tweeted out to their 150,000 followers on Twitter to protest this ban directly to YouTube:

Hey @YouTube, our community would like a word!
RETWEET to let YouTube hear you: It’s not okay to ban crypto content Show this thread

This amazing coincidence has me thinking that this is the perfect opportunity to invite Bankless to Hive, perhaps to Leofinance and 3Speak!

What do you think? I think that everyone on YouTUbe, no matter how big or popular their channel is...should have a Plan B!

So I am attempting to contact them through all available means, to invite them to Hive.

What do you think? @shortsegments
