Metaverse Attractions

As I contemplate my investment decisions in new Metaverse projects, I analyze the reasons to get involved.

• Relationships
• Money
• Prestige
• Escape

Relationships

As I reflect on the friends, acquaintances, mentors, teachers, students, and other connections I have made here on Hive, on Steemit, and even when I first started mining cryptocurrency, I was creating relationships.

Humans are social creatures, so I think this is a huge part of the attraction. And because we spend so much time on line, these relationships can become more important then our physical relationships.

Why? The people who help you put food on the table, a roof over your head and help you pay you medical bills or other unexpected expenses become very important.

Money

I guess one can assume Money from number one; relationships. But it never hurts to emphasize that people are making real money in the Metaverse. Ever week I read how someone has replaced their job income with cryptocurrency earnings.

Prestige

It started back on Steemit with badges like Dolphin, Orca and Whale. These signified your amount of stake, and thus the size of your reward votes. Thus it’s prestigious to be a Dolphin but more so an Orca or Whale.

Enter stage left NFTs. This has changed as people buy NFTs which cost 2-3 Ethereum, and because it’s public knowledge that these NFTs are expensive, the use of these NFTs as your Avatar or public picture has become a symbol of prestige like Rolex watch or Lamborghini sports car.

Escape

This is both a happy paragraph and a sad one. I think for many who live in poor living conditions the Metaverse is a chance to live in a beautiful home, own a big real estate property and or drive a beautiful car or fly a plane or spaceship. It’s definitely a form of escape from your physical environment, but there’s more.

For the smart, for the hardworking, for the creative and for the lucky, the Metaverse can provide real money to improve your real life. So what was once considered only a escape into fantasy has changed into a tool to change your reality. A real escape from Poverty or whatever undesirable physical situation people live in or job situation they found themselves in, from bad job to no job. The Metaverse can fix it.

Summary

The Metaverse is indeed popular, and there are very good reasons for this popularity. I think there are solid reasons in both the virtual and physical world, that people engage in the Metaverse to meet both their physical and emotional needs. The intersection of man, mind and machines is an amazing place.
