Afternoon everyone ….

Today I want to share with you a “trap purchase”. While the pictures look very juicy to anyone interested, what you get will ABSOLUTELY leave you feeling cheated.

What I’m talking about is eBay sellers who are trying to sell bank rolls of Morgan silver dollars. They claim they are sealed original bank rolls.

I’m not going to share any of the sellers information, but I will share these pictures from various listings.

First off 70% of all Morgan silver dollars ever produced never left the canvas bank bags they went in to.

Second who in their right mind would ever sell a roll of unsearched Morgan silver dollars will a “CC” showing on the end and not open it. Half of the “CC” minted Morgans are key dates worth thousands of dollars, and some worth tens of thousands of dollars. That’s like having a winning lottery ticket and never cashing it.

If you don’t believe what I am writing check all the people on YouTube that have live opened them to find out the only “CC” was the end one. It’s a common date “CC” and the rest are common mass produced $30 Morgans. They take the best two looking coins and place them at the ends, then use a roll closer to seal it back up to look untouched. The rolls are old so wear they say is normal.

If you want beautiful Morgan silver dollars there are plenty available out there. Buy one that has nice detail and eye appeal and you will never go wrong.

Me personally will only buy numismatic coins in person, because I want to see the coin before I hand over my hard earned money.

On a similar note. A member of the #silvergoldstacker community recently purchased a Morgan silver dollar from an on line dealer that was listed as BU. For those of you unfamiliar with what BU means. It means guaranteed it’s a mint state coin. Meaning it would grade at a minimum MS60. The coin was in no way a mint state coin. There was zero detail on the breast feathers of the eagle on the reverse.

I do not own any MS60 Morgan silver dollars. So to show you exactly what I am saying here is an active Morgan for sale on eBay that is an NGC certified MS60 which is the lowest mint state grade. The coin has nice detail, there is some detail of breast feathers, which were not evident on the coin purchased.

Here is the eBay coin…

While buying newly released coins, or bullion are fine to purchase on line from reputable dealers. Numismatic coins should only be purchased in person in my opinion.
