I’m in the process of gutting a laundry room and making it into something that represents the house better. The original owners slapped up some cheap IKEA cabinets that were plain white and falling apart.

When I went to remove one of the base cabinets there was a double set of black pipe going through it. Black pipe means gas line, in case you aren’t aware.

After following the path of this line to figure out where it was coming from, I discovered a complete mess. First off there was no shut off valve that was accessible. Which is not in code, and very unsafe.

After the homeowners granted me permission I cutout a section of the drywall where the pipes came from.

And quests what I found....

Not one but two shut offs. One was to a line that wasn’t even being used, which should have been capped off down in the basement.

So now my install has been shut down until the plumber gets here and brings it up to code.

Oh well.....

Here’s some shiny for you...
