A city in N.Dakota now accepts cryptocurrency

The city of Williston in North Dakota is joining the cryptocurrency adoption race in the United States by starting to accept crypto payments.

Hercules Cummings, who is the finance director for the City of Williston, announced yesterday that the city administration has partnered with crypto payment firm BitPay to start accepting cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) as payments for utility bills.

The city executive stated that “We have partnered with BitPay, the largest virtual payment merchant whose partners include Microsoft and Facebook. We are the first municipality in the State of North Dakota, and the third in the nation, to offer this service,”.

Utility bill payments will only be bills eligible for crypto payment initially only, So according to this that BitPay charges only a 1% Fee to pay utility bills rather than a 3% commission for payments via services like Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal.

Williston residents can visit the official city website and provide their account information to receive a BitPay invoice.

And several states in the USA whoa are considering crypto-friendly legislation.

Earlier this week that Nebraska lawmakers favoured an initiative that would allow state banks to handle crypto.

The mayor of Jackson, Tennessee initiated a campaign to pay public salaries in Bitcoin and mine the cryptocurrencies for the city's balance sheets, echoing similar proposals in Miami, Florida.

By reading this as this good news as the United States takes 1 step closer to a crypto space where you can use cryptocurrencies for goods and services.
