2021 is the Year of the Ox in the Lunar calendar year.

The Ox is the second of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived at his party. The Ox was about to be the first to arrive, but Rat tricked Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox. Thus, Ox became the second animal.

In Chinese culture, the Ox is a valued animal. Because of its role in agriculture, positive characteristics, such as being hardworking and honest, are attributed to it.

2021 Rwandan Silver Lunar Ox Coin

5th year of release in the Rwandan Lunar Ounce series, contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in BU condition, the face value of 50 Francs (RWF) is fully backed by the Rwandan government.


The reverse field of 2021 1 oz Rwandan Silver Lunar Ox Coins includes an image of the Rwandan coat of arms. The national seal of the Republic of Rwanda comes with inscriptions in Kinyarwanda with a design at the center showcasing a traditional clay pot and branches of sorghum and coffee.


On the obverse side of the 2021 Rwandan Silver Lunar Ox Coins, you will find a depiction of the ox. The Year of the Ox may be fifth in the Rwandan Lunar Ounce Series, but it is second in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac. The ox is a powerful beast that served as a vehicle of sorts to get the mouse to the meeting with the Jade Emperor first. With all the worlds animals racing to meet the Jade Emperor, the mouse found a raging river in its path. As the ox approached, the mouse hopped a ride with ox as it waded across the river and eventually jumped off just before arriving at the meeting. As such, the mouse comes first and is followed by the ox each year.
