2023 Lunar Silver Coins: Australian Rabbit, Perth Mint
The Lunar Series III collection was introduced in 2020 and will be available until 2031. A variety of weights—from 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz to 10 oz, 1 kilo, and 10 kilo—are offered for the silver coins. An entirely new platinum bullion coin was added as a significant modification to the Lunar Series III collection. In my case, I only purchase the 1 troy ounce in silver coins.
2023 Perth Mint Silver Lunar Rabbit
In Perth Mint's Lunar Series III program, the 1 oz coin is the main silver coin and the only size with a maximum mintage.
Coin Highlights:
4th year of release in the Lunar Series III program.
Limited mintage of only 300,000 coins.
Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver in BU condition.
The face value of $1 (AUD) is fully backed by the Australian government.
On the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse features two rabbits.
Coins include a micro-laser engraved security letter on the reverse.

Two rabbits are shown on the reverse of the 2023 1 oz silver Lunar Rabbit Coins. One rabbit is depicted in this illustration perched beneath a limb, vigilant to any potential threats. The other bunny appears unconcerned as it stands on its hind legs and snuffles at the limb hanging overhead.
The Lunar Series III program's 2023 release is a unique one. Ing Ing Jong, a coin designer who has worked for the Perth Mint for more than ten years, has previously contributed to various Lunar Series issues, beginning with the 2013 Year of the Snake. She is the only designer in 2023, and both the gold and silver coins have her rabbit motifs. The platinum release features the gold design.
