Gaming is hot on Steem. Earlier this week, 2 brand new games were released, and they're taking the blockchain by storm. Holybread and SteemCity are the new kids this time. Join the games, have fun, and earn crypto while you're at it.

These powerful characteristics make the Steem blockchain attractive for both game developers and players.

It's a collectible trading card game that offers many opportunities for both gamers and investors.

This game is all about building a collection of cards that can be used to battle against opponents in the arena. Cards can be obtained through purchases of booster packs from the site, or can be bought on the P2P marketplace.

Players earn extra cards and DEC (the in-game currency) through battling.

Extra cards can be used to expand the player's collection, but they can also be sold to other players, or even burned in exchange for DEC. Earned DEC can easily be converted to Steem, and then exchanged for any other crypto or even cashed out in fiat.

No need to explain this game provides some great income opportunities for players.

But there's more...

You don't have to actually play the game to profit from it.

Plenty of investors rent out their cards to other players using the rental market and get paid out passive income daily.

And then there's the group of people who are 'playing' the market: they buy cards cheap, and sell them for a higher price.

As you can see, Splinterlands offers not only a lot of fun, but also multiple ways to earn money.

Once you've obtained the initial $10 starter pack, which unlocks all features, you can start playing/making money instantly.

Holybread is a brand new game that was launched only a couple of days ago. It has become pretty popular really fast.

The goal of this game is to level up your hero(es) and make it as strong as possible, so you can beat others in 1 on 1 fights. Every fight you win brings you closer to the top of the leader board and eternal fame.

To level up your hero, you need to complete simple quests. Once completed, you gain experience points (to level up) and gold. This gold can be used to purchase special attributes that increase your hero's stats and make it more powerful.

Next to the f2p version, the game offers a premium package for $9.99. Of course, this premium package will give you some advantages when leveling up your hero(es) and also extends your income opportunities, but even if you don't take that upgrade there are still plenty of ways to earn money from the Holybread game.

It's all not that hard, once you get the hang of it. The 'gameplay' may seem pretty basic, but finding the best way to upgrade your hero is pretty challenging.

I really like that Holybread doesn't require you to spend all your time on the game. After starting a quest, you can completely forget about the game for 10 or 15 minutes (or longer). You claim your prizes once you have a minute to spare. This makes this a perfect game to play while you're doing other stuff.

Figuring out the right prices for items you're selling is still a bit tricky, but in the two days since I signed up, I already sold 2 items. Net profit: 4 Steem. Okay, it's not a fortune (yet), but I've only been at it for 2 days, and I haven't invested a single cent. I haven't listed my breadcrumbs on the exchange yet. I will do so after I finish this post, to test the buyback opportunity.

It's still early, but I think the game developers have come up with a potential success story. And more people feel the same way, because at the moment of writing (4 days after the launch), there are already 1300 registered accounts.

Apparently, the developers have more in store for us. I can't wait to see where this is heading.

So, here's an idea: let's take a break, and we'll meet again tomorrow for the second part of this post. I'll tell you all about SteemCity, a brand new game that utilizes NFT's. It's not only fun, it's also a good way to get comfortable with buying, selling and trading NFT's (Non Fungible Tokens).

But more on that tomorrow.

(Can't wait? Go visit the SteemCity Discord server to find out more.)
