Spotify seeks director for crypto currencies

Spotify is looking for an "Associate Director, Payments Strategy & Innovation" here - so it is a small clickbait in the title, but not quite. Because in the description it says:

This role will report to the Director, Payments Strategy & Innovation and will play a key part in defining and implementing Spotify's payments strategy as well as leading Spotify's activity within the Libra stablecoin project and wider digital asset & cryptocurrency space.

Spotify is looking for a person who will promote activities related to Libra and other assets from the cryptocurrency space. Thus, it can be concluded that Spotify is slowly but surely becoming involved in cryptocurrency payments and is making the decency to do so. In general, the position describes a key role in defining and implementing Spotify's payment strategy, which will probably soon include cryptos.

Listed more precisely under the category "What you will do":

You will lead Spotify's day-to-day engagement with Diem (formerly Libra). You will drive further consideration of new opportunities and innovation in the emerging ecosystem of distributed ledger technology, blockchains, cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and other digital assets.

So why waste a lot of words if it is clear? Spotify is approaching the crypto-market and is doing the same as some companies that (might) develop a long-term perspective.

For those who really care: The position is advertised in the London and/or Stockholm office. Based on the job description you can guess that there should be a certain willingness to travel.
