EXPERIENCE OF AN ELEVATOR ENGINEER: TESTING

Today, the team of engineers visited two sites today. Both sites were not located far from each other which made work easier. One thing is, I neither like both sites because of the stress in climbing the stairs up to the controller room.

The first site, is called the riff towers with a total of 12 floors. Fortunately, the lift wasn't down only that it had issues with the breaks of the motor which is an easy to adjust.

In the picture above, we just arrived at the 12th floor of the building and moving up to the roof through the stairs.

The picture above is a 3 phase synchronous motor which carries the elevator to travel to different floors of the building.

The image you see above is the breaks of the motor. At that moment it was being tightened by the use of spanner 20/22, then that was all.

The image above is me with my boss at work. The blue panel beside is the control panel of the elevator.

The second aim of coming over here was to test an elevator board which we have in our possession.

Note: You can only test a board if the elevator board is the same to the one you have to test.

From the image above, you would notice that both boards are the same.

So this was how we changed the boards.

From the picture above, after gently removing the plugs connected to the board, it was left to remove the IC's of the board.

If you are wondering, what is an IC?

IC means integrated Circuit in full, and can also be called chips or microchips. They contain alot of resistors and capacitors in it and can serve as a microprocessor.

So that is actually what we were swamping from the board of the elevator to our own board.

NOTE: You have to be very careful when removing the chip as it is expensive and very delicate. If any pin of the chip breaks then the whole IC is useless.

After swapping the IC, we placed it to test the board and it worked perfectly.

Below is a clear image of the board.

In the board of above, you could see that there are alot of chips, capacitor, resistors. These components makes the board of an elevator very expensive and should be really handed carefully.

From the picture above, the board has been fixed back, inserted back all plugs and now running.

To make it easier for me to write, I would discuss about the second site I visited in another post which I would publish in my free time.
