KIDNAPPERS REQUETS FOR $100K TO RELEASE STUDENTS
Yesterday, 3 students were kidnapped from my school. It was said that these students were on Industrial training and were in a neighbouring community working on a farm. It was said that the kidnappers requests for $100k (#50 million naira) to release each person.
A security caution from the student union government to stay alert
I am quite surprised that the kidnappers could ask for such amount of money when they know the situation of the country. Moreover, if at all they want to kidnap a student that the parents may be available to pay such ransome, It should be from all those rich school where senators take their children to and not in a school like mine.
Moreover, the government of Nigeria has passed a bill that anybody that pays any ransom to a kidnapper would be sent to jail for 15 years without any trail. The purpose of this bill is to not encourage kidnapping in the country. Presently I wonder how these students who have been kidnapped would be freed.
Nigeria on its own has history of so many kidnapped students who were never retrieved with failed efforts from the government in recovering them. There are unsettled cases like the 276 chibok girls kidnapped in 2015 in which over hundreds of the girls are still missing, and others I haven't mentioned.
Today, students were protesting in front of the school gates all through the day. Here are the pictures taken of the protest.
Presently, I hope best for the safety of these students most especially because the government are not doing enough towards kidnapping cases. There have been a lot of kidnapping happening and after a while we matter dies without getting the students back. I definitely hope this time it would be different.
