Dear investors, of course I didn´t mean to ask you if you are stupid, but if you are a fool investment-wise. You may have heard about a company called The Motley Fool, which offers via a subscription service stock tips (1-2 buy recommendations per month), analyses and company updates. They have quite a nice track record on their investments and are beating the major indices at length!

With a friend I tried out their basic service this summer and here are some preliminary results. My investments in Fool-recommended stocks so far (buy price includes transaction fees):

StockDate of purchasePrice at purchasePrice today/when soldPerformance
Adesso SE07-Jul-202057,74€67,5€ (sold on 23-Sep-2020)17%
Crowdstrike13-Jul-2020102,42€120€17,2%
ASML27-Aug-2020321,35€342,65€6,6%
Shop Apotheke17-Sep-2020128,89€164€27,2%
JD.com23-Sep-202063,77€78€22,3%
LPKF01-Oct-202021,29€18,10€-15%
Bandwidth21-Oct-2020158,84€137€-13,7%

Since most of the stocks I hold only since very recently, not too bad at all!

Apart from those I have some other stocks with far worse performance (e.g. Nicola, Intel and Welltower). So all in all so far I am very happy with the "foolish" recommendations. Too early to deduct anything from it? Sure, especially the next weeks may see of course quite some volatility (aftermaths of the election, more bad news on Corona lockdowns,...), so at the end of the year I will post an update.

Currently they have Aumann AG as buy recommendation. Rationale is that this company has a nice technology advantage in certain components of electric and classic drive chain systems. They can profit of an increase in adoption of electric vehicles and their stock recently was beaten up (too much) on low profitability, but this may revert.

What do you think about it?

Anybody here experience with the Motley Fool?

By the way, from the posts here one could get the impression that stocks are nothing and that the universe centers around any aspect of cryptos only. Market cap shows something different. We should not forget stocks (and of course gold&silver) when diversifying!
