Great point. I am no marketing guru, but I remeber something I watched from a while back. With regards to internet marketing in general everyone had abandoned the email as old hat.
However if you really look into it email maintained one of the highest revenue per effort of all of the avenues. It is not sexy and most people say they don't use it much anymore, but it is still the big money maker.
Similar situation I believe.
