The News

Crypto is down across the board, so it is no surprise to see $HIVE down too. You can still vote it up on Coingecko. I use their API to generate this chart using this script.

Meanwhile there is plenty of happening on Hive. On the new LeoFinance you can create polls that are decentralised, like this one I posted.

Friday Follows

  • @unicrisx8 is a digital artist who is creating NFTs on Hive.
  • @ale.dri is an Italian drummer I found recently. I created the Drumming community where people can post, or cross post if they prefer. I want it to be a place where people interested in this art can go to find relevant content. I have my own list of drummers in peakd that I can check for activity. You do not have to follow everyone to see the content you enjoy.
  • @giampaolo19 is another Italian drummer who is looking for tips on how to use Web3.0 to get his work out there. He also posts drum lessons.
  • I met @zirochka at Hivefest and she is back in Ukraine showing us what life is like there. I can tell you it is not great.
  • @killerwot has been showing off some of his Star Wars collectables. I am a little jealous as I grew up with the original movies.

These people get a share of the post rewards.

The Dog House

I have seen several people posting about what we should do regarding posts that are generated with tools like ChatGPT. It allows people to produce text on any topic with very little effort. There are already tools that are supposed to detect such generated text, but there will be an arms race as the quality improves. It may stand out as it could be better than what the human owner of an account might write themselves.

I think we each have to decide what deserves our votes. If you see a sudden change in what someone is posting it may arouse suspicion. Most people here are not trainer writers, so if I see a post that looks like a magazine article then I may wonder if it was generated or even copied from elsewhere. What has value to me are posts that educate or inform me, but they need to have that human touch.

If you did not write something yourself then you need to be honest about it. I think there could be legitimate reasons to use such 'AI' (I do not consider it truly intelligent) for research, but you need to confirm that it is correct as it may use unreliable sources.

These things will not go away and they will get better. I just want to send rewards where they are earned.

The End

When the $HIVE price is down you can worry about it or you can keep posting to earn rewards that could gain value. Some people will see this as a buying opportunity, but it is up to each of us to decide whether to invest. You can add value to Hive in other ways. People will pay attention to what you do. Those who just take tend not to do so well. Be part of the community and you should be fine.

Have a great weekend.
