Hey! Hey! It's Friday! I expect a lot of people are off work today for the Easter holidays, so have fun.

The News

There is plenty happening with Hive lately. Although it has dipped a bit the HIVE price is pretty much matching what it was in the early days and it is back in the top 200 crypto on @coingecko.

The HBD price is a bit out of control and is having some effects on the proposal system, but there effords to sort that out. With such a low market cap it is easily moved.

I hope the latest Hive Power Up Day boosted a few accounts, but I can understand it is more expensive to do so now. Cheap HIVE is nice when you are buying, but when the price goes up it encourages more people to be active.

Hive got some coverage recently on The Capital Press in an interview with some of the development team. It has been lacking in news stories out there, so this is welcome. It can be difficult to find them due to the generic name.

Friday Follows

Here are some people to check out this week:

  • @gaottantacinque posted about ongoing issues with abuse that is going on to upvote spam posts and comments. You can help out with manual downvotes or delegate to @keys-defender. There is a script on that post to automate downvotes.
  • @bigcatcomics is a comics fan who just joined Hive.
  • @run.kirsty.run and @run.vince.run did an Ironman triathlon. It was a first for Kirsty and a great achievement. They are in New Zealand where such events are possible now. They also plan to get married soon!
  • @butherfly87 is another new person on Hive who is into crypto. Please make them welcome.
  • Also new here is @sippycup540 who is into Linux, comics and gaming.

The Doghouse

There are various debates about the validity of self-voting on Hive. I do not do it, but I think it is acceptable in moderation. If most of your voting is going to yourself then it could be classed as abuse. One such case is Mintdice who vote up all their own comments to over a dollar. They might say that this is due to lack of votes from others, but do they deserve rewards if they cannot find an audience?

The higher HIVE price can lead to more abuse and we need to be vigilant to prevent it getting out of control. Hive benefits from having quality content that is supported by the community. Use your up and down votes to get rewards where they are deserved.

The End

Thanks for reading. Feel free to do your own #followfriday post and let me know about it. Together we can build the Hive community.

Hive five!
