What means financial independence for you?

Today when I was scrolling on the internet I passed by above quote.
It made me think: what does financial independence mean for me?

I totally agree that it's a mental process (which equilibrium between spending and saving suits me best? ), an emotional process (with ups and downs) and a big educational part (what are the possibilities, risks, opportunities,...)

But I think it's much more than these aspects. For example I think it's very important to have a goal, when would I call myself financial independant? Is it if I can drive a lambo while spending tons of money, is it when I can retire or is it if I only have to work part-time and when I like to rather than have to?

Personally I would go for the option of being able to retire completely without extraordinary spending. I think that even than I'll go back to work albeit for the social contact and maybe volunteering for a local charity.

So my question to you:
What does financial independence mean for you?
