You must have been sleeping under a rock not to have seen the recent news about the roll-out of Hardfork 25 on the Hive blockchain with effect from yesterday.

First things first, congratulations to @blocktrades and the rest of the Witnesses and team for the ultra-smooth deployment. I can remember several shaky hardfork deployments in the past under the stewardship of the "S-Word"... (including the blockchain grinding to a halt!) so this was really impressive.

I won't rehash all the changes here as they have been well covered elsewhere, but my overall sense is that we are reaching a tipping-point here where most of the 'kinks' and annoyances have been ironed out plus we have some groundbreaking new options and features.

Changes to Voting

Getting rid of the gamesmanship around optimising voting timings for the best return was a must - I am so pleased to see it gone. I hope this leads to far more Hivians merrily tapping that vote button for posts and comments. There's really no excuse now. Share the love!

I hope that this change in voting behaviour will encourage much more activity here on Hive and in turn lead to a reboot of existing user activity which has a knock-on effect to attracting new users.

We needed to get our act together first, before we can consider ourselves ready to welcome onboard the mainstream.

In my view, HF25 is a giant stride in the right direction and might just be the reboot that we need to get this blockchain to the next level (as it so deserves).
