Geyser, Cub, and Splinterlands - Where My Money Likes to Grow These Days

Over the last weeks I have been reshuffling my funds, opting out of one opportunity in favor of another. In between these steps I do a good bit of thinking and waiting, at times because I try to avoid hasty decisions, other times because I simply have no other option. Waiting is just the name of the game sometimes... especially if you're playing with Geyser!

Leaving the ETH-WLEO Pool

As I have suggested in my last post a month ago, I was growing uncomfortable in the Geyser pool. Sure, it did generate money, but the ever-present WEN overshadowed the comparatively modest earnings. So I waited for the next payout (it happened on June 23rd, a week later than promised), but as it turns out, the following payout came even later. So in a way I'm glad I left that pool behind. Don't get me wrong, @LeoFinance team, I still love you, and I'm sure eventually you'll have Geyser running smoothly, fully automated, and right on time. For now, however, I want to take my money to play elsewhere.

I'm still interested in converting my 10k LEO in HIVE, power it up, and delegate it to @LeoVoter. Except for, the exchange rate hasn't been too favorable lately. I managed to exchange 300 some odd LEOs, but the rest is still waiting. In the meantime, I'm trying to change the resulting HIVE back for a profit. But that's cool, either way I'll get there eventually.

Entering Kingdoms, Waiting for the BNB Rewards

The other major change I undertook was in CubFinance. I took all my money out of the farms and dens, and reorganized them into the kingdoms. This required a good bit of rearrangement, as the kingdoms didn't offer the same currency pairs as the farms. For example, there was no place to put my bLEO. Sure, I could have left it in the BNB-bLEO farm (where it would have been more profitable thanks to people like me who left it for the kingdom -duh!) but I really needed some BNB at this point. Also, the BUSD I took from the CUB-BUSD farm needed some matching BNB to be placed in the kingdom. Finally, I used my BTCb from the den to split it up between the BTC-BNB kingdom, and the beltBTC kingdom.

Since then I've been watching my CUB increase in its kingdoms, my share in the BNB-BUSD grow slowly, and the other two kingdoms generating CUB (even though only about half as fast as in the farms). The only thing I'm still waiting for is the BNB rewards in the kingdoms. According to the last announcement this has just been implemented. Great, now I only need to wait for the BNB to accumulate.

Super Excited about Splinterlands

At the moment, what seems to take the cake, more than anything, are the recent developments in Splinterlands. These days I've seen a number of posts where the author lamented having sold their Splinterlands assets, and now they are clearly mooning. As for myself, I had grown tired of playing the game just before the Unchained edition was released. That's when I started renting out my cards. It was not easy, and after fiddling with it for days, I got to the point where about a third of my collection was rented more or less regularly, and I managed to earn a few cent worth of tokens each day. That's where I left it, only checking in on it occasionally, using my slowly accumulated money for making bids on more Beta cards, gradually leveling up what I had.

All this took a sudden turn a week or so ago, when I noticed that none of my cards were being rented any more. In a quick investigation I became aware of the changes in the game, and how the entire rental system was being overhauled. Okay, so once again I sat down to wrap my head around it, and I must say: the new system is nothing like the old one! Today only 6% of all my cards are NOT rented. And the rates...? Suffice to say, we're not talking pennies any longer! At the moment I'm earning about 700 DEC every day. Of course, this is probably going to change at some point, but for now I'm quite happy.

But that's only the beginning! Then there are the daily Splintershards (SPS) airdropped daily for the cards and DEC I have accumulated. I saw some of it on Hive Engine, but it was a really negligible amount, so I pretty much ignored it... until I learned from this great post by @kennyskitchen how to claim and stake it on the Splinterlands page. Now I can expect some more passive income on this side as well.
