Cryptocurrency is more than a decade old but from a grand perspective it is still relatively new. The debate whether it will go to zero and become irrelevant is no longer prevalent yet it is there nonetheless (especially in a bear market!). One of the reasons is because there are still staunch proponents and opponents of crypto (kudos to both parties).

However, they're small in number especially when compared to those who take a moderate stand towards crypto. These are currently the majority and every event (good or bad) shapes their perspective towards crypto.

I believe many will eventually be sold to the wonderful idea that crypto represents because it will become so self evident that misconceptions and tainted agendas will lose their charm in convincing people otherwise.

Into Their Minds

Beyond the common and well known biases of both parties, there are valid points to each. For example, the staunch opponents say that there's isn't any inherent value in crypto and it is just a 'gamble'. This is true when viewed from their eyes but isn't that how almost everything starts out in the beginning?

At one point, smartphones, the internet and even money didn't have any inherent value and was merely a gamble. Actualisation of an idea doesn't bring any inherent value, it's when people embrace the idea or the actualisation and propagate it that the value becomes inherent. And like a planted seed it grows as more people embrace it i.e take care of the seed.

On the other side of the table, the staunch proponents believe that crypto is a panacea to our more than a century old financial problems and will usher in a financial semi utopia. In as much as we should aim for the moon and reach for the stars, I think that won't be achievable despite crypto having the potential to take us there. This is based on factoring two critical elements. The human element and reality-is-very-different element.

However, basic fundamental problems with finance could be solved. And just like the internet and all it came with, improved our standard of living. So too will crypto and all it will come with, improve our 'standard of finance'.

Balance And Moderation Has Its Place But....

It doesn't get things done, move the needle forward, create inventions, win battles or change the course of history. I don't know where moderation sits in the human experience but it is clearly not when you want to strive and achieve something.

Being enthusiastic means becoming motivated, inspired, captivated and excited about a cause (crypto in this case) despite the the apparent reality that things will not always go the way you want them to go.

This is what has kept crypto surviving all along and it is what will take it to break grounds and reach new heights. Whether it is the silent investor, active builder or vocal speaker, this technology needs crypto enthusiasts of all kinds.
