A couple reasons for that:

  • the fear associated with the markets. When panic is in the air, it is time to head for safety which is the USD.

  • the EU is in trouble. Their economy is in the crapper (worse than everyone else) and no banks will accept their debt as collateral.

That all equates to the EURO being gone by the end of this decade.
