All Leo Power holders own a million dollar business. Are they aware of that?

If you ask people around if they would like to own a million-dollar business I think a lot of them would say "yes" or, most likely, "of course I would! Are you out of your mind? What kind of question is that?"

Well, if you are reading this then you probably have a few LEO tokens staked in the form of Leo Power, which means you already own a million-dollar business, even if you are not aware of it.

If you are anything like me, you might be thinking you can't possibly be considered an owner with such a small stake, but believe me, you are. I actually don't really like the "owner" denomination but for the sake of the argument, let's keep using this metaphor.

I also used to think that with such a small stake, I was only a small fish in the ocean and it would take years before I got to the point where I really mattered in this community, but recently I have changed my mind. Edicted, one of the most prolific authors on LeoFinance often says that even a 500 Leo Power stake gives you more power on this community than you can ever dream to have anywhere on the old legacy system so do yourself a favor and start changing that mindset right now. You matter. You own part of this community.

Your role in the community

As uncle Ben would say:

So, you have this business now, where hundreds of people (who are also owners, by the way) go to every day and thousands of dollars circulate on a daily basis. What are you gonna do? What is your role in it all?

Let's adopt a CEO mindset for a second here. Again, I don't really think that what we're doing here is exactly like what you will find in the corporate world, but for the sake of the argument let's expand that metaphor for a moment.

In most cases, CEOs are not hired for their technical prowess. They are hired to be the face of the company and to set the corporate culture that they expect will drive the business to success and I believe that's exactly what you (and all of us) need to do be doing here. Each and every one of us must be to the outside world the face of what we believe Leo represents or should represent. Each and everyone one of us should be doing our best to set a growth culture inside the community.

But how?

This is actually easier than it seems. The answer is: show up.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but trust me, that's really all it takes.

If you listen to the Cryptomaniacs podcast you probably already heard Taskmaster and Jon saying that exact same thing. And I'm sure many other people who "made it" here would agree.

There are a lot of things you could and should be doing around here but in the end, they all mean the same thing: engagement. That's the key to success. Your success as an individual and the success of the community as a whole.

You can engage with the community in so many ways that there is really no excuse not to do so. There is curation, posting your own content, commenting on other author's posts and being a part of engagement initiatives, such as Leo Market Talk (@leomarkettalk), a daily post where some of the most active members of the community gather to discuss a varied range of subjects.

I can promise you that it will really make you be noticed and your voice to be heard in the community.

There is one concept that can be applied to most decentralized contexts that's the concept of "prosumers". Rather than being merely consumers we are prosumers in this community, meaning that we both take away from and give back to the community.

As can be seen above, there are many ways you can be a prosumer and if you can't find the time to do at least some of those things you should rethink if this is really your place.

I wrote this with LeoFinance in mind because that's the community where I spend most of my time, but the same is valid for all communities as, in the end, we're all part of one greater community that is Hive.

Final thoughts

We are all owners of the communities we're a part of and, no matter how big or small is our stake, it's in our best interest that these communities thrive and, as owners, it's also our responsibility to make that happen.
