It's time for another #crypthursday, where we will take a look at some of the most relevant crypto facts of the past 7 days. The focus will always be on what's going on at the Hive blockchain but eventually, I'll talk about other stuff too, if I consider them to be relevant enough.

My intention with this is to try and share relevant information but I also see this as a learning journey for myself, so if you spot any mistakes or would like to contribute with your own opinion do not hesitate to leave a comment!

The charts

Well, well, well, it looks like we had another green week as all the main coins and alts that I track sustained a nice growth. The highlight here goes to RUNE, which has grown over 70% in the past 7 days!

If you read some of my other posts you probably know that RUNE is somewhat of a pet token for me and I'm really bullish on it. I was lucky enough to get in really early after hearing about it here on LeoFinance so I'm really happy to see that not even the hacking incidents shook off the confidence of investors.

HIVE is doing very well too, holding its ground at that $0.40 level. Could it be the new support?

Play2Earn

Blockchain gaming has gained a lot of attention with the so-called Play2Earn model. Games like Axie Infinity and, Splinterlands really back up the statement that gaming is the next big thing for crypto.

And this is only the beginning too. As popular as they are in our niche, those games only have around 30k daily users right now, according to DappRadar. With more than 150 million regular gamers in the US alone the gaming market has a huge potential to be an important gateway to the mass adoption of crypto.

We are seeing more and more blockchain games being created every day now and, much like what happened to DeFi, many of them will be scams designed to grab money from people who FOMO into them and that's why I believe Hive has a good opportunity in that arena.

We already have many games being developed on the blockchain such as Rising Star and Exode and I believe having the reputation of trusted community members behind those games and others that will come in the future is going to be an important asset in this new context.

DeFi Farming made simple

There is no doubt that DeFi is one of the most important things that happened in the world of cryptocurrencies recently. The prospects of freedom, transparency and very attractive gains really draw the attention of veterans and rookies in the crypto-verse alike.

The problem is that with that sea of opportunities a few issues also came along. DeFi is not exactly easy for beginners to understand and it can be a little intimidating at first. Not to mention the always present risk of being rug-pulled on a platform that was designed with the sole intention of scamming people for their crypto.

With that in mind, @jerrythefarmer decided to start publishing reviews of the many DeFi platforms he's explored over the past year.

His posts are very comprehensive. He provides basic instructions to get started on the platform, an overview of what is behind the project, his personal investment strategy for said project and also his overall rating of the platform.

Of course, you should always do your own research before deciding to invest your money in anything but I find his posts to be a very nice starting point. In one of his recent posts, he showcased a project that is working to create a decentralized global marketplace for energy trading. As a huge decentralized energy supporter, I am most definitely checking this one out!

And speaking of DeFi, I can't miss the opportunity of shilling my absolute favorite platform, which is CubFinance! I'm sure you already know it by now, but in case you don't, make sure to check it out! It was created by the same people behind LeoFinance so you know you can trust them!

Pick of the week

Do you know what is the Miner Extractable Value (MEV) and why it can be dangerous? I didn't, but in this great article, fellow LeoFinance member @xplosive provided a very clear explanation of the concept and the reasons why it's one of the biggest debates around Ethereum these days. Make sure you check it out!

There are a few other things that I thought about squeezing in, such as the very recent Ethereum network update, but this post is already long and I prefer to talk about it next week, when we'll have a better idea of the aftermath.

Plus, I still have to reveal my pick for tomorrow's #cocktailfriday!

And the winner is...

The Margarita

Tequila is not really among my favorite spirits to mix cocktails (bad memories from college times) but this is a classic that deserves some attention. The Margarita, not to be confused with the Margherita, which is a pizza (and also some old queen), is a very refreshing cocktail that gained a lot of popularity since its invention in the late 40's.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 ounce orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 ounce lime juice

Instructions

Add tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake until well-chilled.

Strain to a glass filled with ice and there you go!

For bonus points, garnish with a salt rim and a lime wheel!

Also, keep in mind that since the Margarita is one of the most popular cocktails in the world, there are tons of variations to this recipe. This is just the basic version and you can't go wrong with it, but feel free to use your creativity on this one!

And that's a wrap guys! It's been a great week for crypto and I believe even greater things are coming!
