Aiming for higher curation rewards on Leofinance

A few days ago I wrote this about opening a second account for Leofinance curation purposes only so that my HIVE power could be divided amongst all the other communities that have a special place in my heart. I just don't have enough HP yet to divide the just over 1000 HP amongst all the great content I come across.

Hive Power could have been higher

Granted, I've been powering down a while from my Hive Power as I needed the funds in real life back then, and later because I wanted to move some funds to other projects. After the credit card was paid off completely, I decided it was time to stop the power down, and start building again. Luckily I didn't drop to far below the 1k HP because most weeks I earned more (or broke even) Hive power than I powered down. I tried to stay close to the 1000 Hive power and I have to admit that I was very happy when I passed that milestone again a few days ago.

I'm not ashamed of the need to powerdown sometimes, but I'm honestly very happy that I can now focus on building the Hive power as well as Leo Power. I'm saving up the liquid HBD that I earned until I decide to take them out (monthly?) or need them for something, but in the meanwhile earn a bit of extra interest instead of moving them instantly. The three day waiting period until they are available again also helps me to think it through before taking them out of the savings account.

For many years, I had no savings at all

For me this is truly something to get used to and a pretty great feeling. For as long as I can remember (truly from age 18), I've had debts. First, because I was a clueless young kid that believed it was a great idea to buy household supplies with 0% interest. Little did I know.. haha. Not long after, I had the wrong partner that "helped me" getting into credit card debt as he didn't bring in any money while abusing me so that I also lost my job and education I was following. I needed to survive and could take out money from my credit card to pay the rent etc. I have felt the concequence of that period for many years.

I have to admit that after the naieve start of my life in debt, I was followed by shitty circumstances and survival mode that made it impossible to get out. I was stuck in my worries about how to solve these things and could never see light at the end of the tunnel. Until I broke the pattern and started over in a different country. And no, I didn't run from the debt collectors, as they will find you after a while, and every single one so far has been dealt with or paid in full. What we could not achieve back then, we can achieve now, and yes, I'm proud of that. So if sometimes a power down will help me get some relief in an expensive month, that's fine by me.

This year has been one with milestones and achievements

The year started great finding the Uniswap airdrop in a wallet, without even knowing that this was there until we discovered it. From that moment, we've been in an upwards spiral and breaking the cycle of struggling through the month and living from paycheck to paycheck. We bought in a few crypto projects, we sold and hold some and at the end of the first quarter of the year, we finally had a car we wanted so badly! Freedom, at last!

With that change, earnings went up and I felt empowered to pay off the credit card setting myself a crazy goal, but I did it, in only 6 weeks. It was a bit of a struggle as the crypto market decided to crash in the same period and gosh I wished I had done so weeks earlier, but so be it. I made it happen and I'm very happy with that.

Too bad our car has some problems that need to be fixed, the damage money wise will probably be clear Friday once we can bring it to the garage. Fingers crossed for that. It needs to be safe because it's mostly used to bring our daughter to and pick her up from kindergarten.

Comparison of the two accounts regarding Leo curation

Above a screenshot of the wallet in the current account. As you can see, yesterday I earned 0.017 LEO curation on my this account. I currently have 128.248 (+42.749 in powerdown) LEO staked, but not enough voting power left due to other votes. I didn't check curation rewards daily, but I do know that the times that I checked it (even before I started the power down)the curation rewards were similar to the screenshot above.

I didn't expect wonders or any huge changes overnight when opening the curation account @thisismylife.leo, but to my surprise, this is what I found when I checked the curation rewards from yesterday:

I believe I see 10x 0.004 LEO rewards, meaning 0.04 LEO curation. The current stats of the curation account are:

I have 150 LEO Power on the new curation account, and I've been using the voting power until about 65% max I think. I started with 105 LEO power, which I had liquid at that point. Over the past few days I've added 45 more LEO power after buying some more LEO when I sold a few Hive Engine tokens for it.

I'm honestly very keen on building this account, therefore I will sometimes sell some other coins I earned to buy LEO, and other times I will stake them instead.

Time to set some goals again!

I can now finally say I'm ready again to set some goals regarding Hive and LEO power. On my hive account, I currently have:

I have two outgoing delegations that I want to expand by delegating to @brofi as well. I will decide in a few days how much Hive I will delegate as today I've spend quite a bit of time going through Hive engine tokens and delegated those that I could to @brofi as well, this results in micropayments of BRO, which is nice.

HIVE POWER GOAL JULY: I would like to be at 1200 Hive Power at the end of the month. Meaning that I have 17 days left to earn 188 Hive Power. This is based on HP earnings only btw, as I'm really trying to keep my HBD liquid for other needs. BUT if I manage to fail reaching this goal, I will add the rest by selling my HBD for HIVE to meet the goal. I know with the current price this seems like such a small milestone, why don't you just buy it and add more? Well, because I have to make sure we can also pay for the car repairs :)

If I manage to meet the goal quite easy, I will probably set a higher goal for this next month, but I'm also dependent on the votes I recieve so I would like to set a goal that I'm quite sure I can reach and move forward from there.

Above the screenshot of the current status on my LEO curation account, 150 LEO power (and 170 LP on the way from power down from this account). At August 1st I will receive the third power down, so let's count 3/4 of the 170 LEO that's on the way from power down: 127,5 LP. That means with the current 150 Leo power + 127.5 LP added, I will have 277.5 Leo power without counting any earnings on top of that.

LEO POWER GOAL JULY: My Leo articles usually don't hit the sweet spots as the articles on Hive in other communities do, but I'm not giving up as I'm in a good writer's flow currently which I hope to maintain to get the best results. I can't predict real life, but if I can continue writing enough Leo articles, I should be able to reach the 500 Leo Power milestone by the first of August. Especially as I continue to buy a few Leo here and there when possible.

I will write an update postat the end of the month or maybe the beginning of August. Let's make it happen! Did you set yourself some goals regarding your account growth on Hive or Leo as well? I'd like to hear from you if you also use your liquids to get to your goal. Which currently I can't commit to yet, but I'm quite sure in the future I will add these funds as well.
