Hi everyone,

I have finally found the time to write about something that I have been wanting to write about for a while now, but between the incredible successful launch of SPS and moving to another country I simply have not found the right moment to sit down and take the time to create this post.

I started to track all of my assets in Splinterlands about 6 months ago and wanted to share some data about how much each different asset has grown. What's especially interesting is, is that even before I started tracking my accounts, I made accounts with a specific set of cards in a specific league to be able to keep track of differences between the different card sets and leagues (I own for example a gold league account that consists out of most available beta cards, a goldfoil account, a maxed alpha account, as well as a singles account that I use for selling cards). Plus I also own some land, orbs, alpha packs, totems and a maxed account (all editions), my main account.

So without further ado, I present you the data of these last six months.

A couple of conclusions that can be made from this data are:

  1. Totems (I own a bunch of commons and rares and a couple of epics) are number one in terms of growth, almost 40x since I started tracking them 6 months ago, the rise was steady, but like almost all assets in the game, the have has seen the biggest gains this past month, since the release of SPS. I guess people are starting to realise that these totems are quite scarce and will give a big benefit when the land expansion will be released.

  2. A close second in terms of growth are lands, around 38x since I started tracking them 6 months ago. The first 4 months almost nothing happened and then slowly started taking off 2 months ago. Yesterday the floor price was almost 500 USD, so if would have made this graph a day ago, lands would have overtaken totems are the absolute leader in terms of gains, but hey, it is crypto and things change fast.

  3. My singles account has not risen as much as my other levelled up accounts, which kind of surprised me, but I think this has to do with the data that I took from peakmonsters (where the market value of a deck is related to the last sale of a certain card and I think that does not take into account whether or not that were single bcx cards). If you look at the price of singles cards, they tend to be 3 to sometimes even 10 times higher, that's especially true for Alpha, Beta and Promo collections. So, realistically I think the singles account should have at least a 20x to 40x multiplier, topping all the other levelled up accounts and even outperforming lands.

  4. On the packs side, we see that Alpha packs have risen 30x, while Orbs are way behind (only about 10x) and in my opinion (also because the cards have a higher burn value) they are still way undervalued.

  5. I wanted to write this article, because when I started investing and playing this game 3 years ago, I named one of my accounts goodasgold, because that is where I put all of my goldfoil cards and I was certain at the time that my goldfoil collection would be a good as real gold. Guess where the price of gold was 6 months ago? 1775 usd, guess where it is now? 1779 usd... And guess where it was 3 years ago? 1232 usd. I think might be time to rename my account to betterthangold, right?

  6. One thing I did not factor in, are the DEC rewards for playing and renting out cards, which is stuff for a whole post in itself. But it is fair to say that I have gotten way more DEC from my maxed account than my singles account, so you should factor this in when hodling cards for a long time. The goal of this post was to compare the market value over a 6 month time span.

Finally, I want to say a big thank you to @aggroed and @yabapmatt for their relentless drive, turning this game into what it is today. They have always stayed calm and focussed (or at least it seemed that way), even when the sentiment around the game was not so optimistic and they got to endure all sorts of crap from the community. Huge respect to the both of you (and your team)!

I am so glad I stuck with you guys through all these years and I have a feeling this is just the start and this game is something that will be talked about for many years to come.
