So, I totally jinxed myself in last month's announcement post by celebrating the fact I'd done at least on non-HivePUD post, and speculating I might manage two for August. Not only did I not publish a single post, I've also just realized that I never did the prize picking & awarding for my birthday post in late July. 😳

Needless to say, I will get on that (the prize thing) as soon as possible, as well as maybe (so I don't jinx myself again...lol) getting out a post I've been working on for the better part of four months now. I made a little progress on Monday (was hoping to get it out in time for the #mondayblogs fun on Twitter), but then the dreaded DD (Discord Distractions) happened. You'd think something that's just pictures of some Lady Slipper blossoms and a bit of a life update ramble wouldn't be so hard to get done... sigh

But enough whining from me - now to the business at hand. While technically in my little corner of the world there's still just about 3 hours left of August (I'm posting this around 9:00pm EST), #hivepud for September 1st 2022 has already arrived in other parts of the world. If you want a super cool way to check if it's officially in your area according to UTC time (which is how the Hive Buzz badges are determined), be sure to check out the Countdown Timer on the hivebuzz.me site (under the green "Power Up" tab), courtesy of the awesomesauce team at @hivebuzz!

  • If you want to qualify for the AMAZING Hive Power Up Day badge(s), your power up must happen during the 24 hours of September 1st 2022 according to UTC time.

and/or

  • If you want to qualify for the #hivepud prize pool, your power up and post must happen (according to criteria listed below) during the hours of September 1st 2022, your local time.

And in July 2022, I decided to tweak the rules a bit, for the first time in forever - be sure to check them out.

Now, for the basic Power Up Day details...

Hive Power Up Day happens on the first of every month. Those who are able to, take this time to power up some Hive, and/or cancel their power downs and pause trading/selling for the 24 hour span of the day.

If you'd like more in depth information about Power Up Day, please check out this post from July 2021.

The requirements are:

  1. Your reputation must be above 39 and below 70 and your account must be in good standing with the community.

  2. Your total Hive Power (before the 1st) must be more than 100 and less than 8000.

  3. You must power up at least 10 Hive on September 1st (and must NOT be powering down).

  4. You must write a post about your power up on September 1st with the tag #hivepud (International) or #hpud (Hispanic) as one of your first 5 tags (tagging only in the body of the post doesn't count).

To be included in the winners list, you must meet all four requirements above. The order of the list (first place, second place, and so on) will be determined by the biggest PERCENTAGE of Hive powered up, not necessarily the most Hive powered up.

And to make it clear what's changed about the rules, I've bolded the two bits in rules #1 and #3. I think it's pretty self-explanatory why I've added those in, but please feel free to shout out if you any questions about it.

For details, check their post Hive Power Up Day - September 1st 2022 as well as their Power Up Day Helper Badge post but essentially -

They've also turned the occasional #hpum (Hive Power Up Month) into a monthly event all year long! To read more about it, check out their post from the beginning of the year, PUD - PUH - PUM - It's all about to Power Up!

Gone this month

I know it seems a bit strange to shout out about a prize being removed, but I think it makes sense to express appreciation to someone for contributing to Power Up Day in the first place. Especially when the sponsor originally agreed to offer the prize for just a few months, and ended up doing it for almost a year! So thank you very much, @themarkymark and @blockheadgames for the past 11 months of delegations & for being so awesomely fast at sending them out once I gave you the winner's name. It was a pleasure to have you as part of the sponsorship team.

As of August 2021, there are a few prizes for accounts who don't qualify for the main prize pool. Meaning: if your power up was under 10 Hive, your account was under 100 Hive Power or more than 8000, and/or your reputation was under 39 or over 70 before you powered up, you still have a chance of winning a prize!
