Steem Doing Something Odd?

I haven't been paying attention too long, maybe a year or so but it seems to me that steem is behaving a bit oddly today.

What I've noticed in the past is that on days bitcoin goes down significantly steem usually drops a few cents in response. Then, when bitcoin inevitably corrects itself, steem doesn't follow it back up lol.

It's frustrating to watch but since I like steem and I like earning proportionately more when the prices are low.

So today I noticed that steem not only held it's own during the bitcoin plunge but actually rose a penny. Not much but it is a few percentage points and on a day like today it's positive news.

I wonder if there is anything behind this or if it just dumb luck. I imagine that we will drop tomorrow and stay there awhile lol.

If anyone has any idea why this is happening I'm all ears!
