To Crowdfund for my building project or to Powerdown my Hive and Hive-engine Tokens?

In the last Six weeks, I've been deeply involved with my accommodation building and furnishing as I am supposed to move in by the end of this month - May, 2021. This had so affected my participation in community activities as well as daily engagement (posts and comments) on Hive. Prio the construction work, I use to share at least 2 posts daily. However, I have been directly involved with some of the jobs on site as I had to reduce cost while also learning through the process. The fun in doing some of the things there is awesome and I'm blessed to also have other young people join and support in the work so far.

It is interesting that the building construction is 90% funded with crypto earnings and particularly Hive tokens. I've not really had a lot pof Hive from posts as I power them up. However, I've sold a chunk of my Hive-engine tokens - LEO, SPORTS, LIST, CTP, LBI, CHARY, and other tokens to be able to raise funds for the project. SO far, not less than than $3,000 has been pushed into the project (2 bedroom flat living apartment and 3 room office block).

The work covered so far include:

  • Block work in some areas

  • Sinking and construction of septic/soak-way pit

  • Wall Platering

  • Aluminium windows and doors

  • Window protectors

  • Ceiling

  • Plumbing

We still have some finishing works to do before the house can be habitable. I'm so happy to see the amount of work that my Hive earnings can so far shoulder. This isn't the first project funded by Hive, however, this is the first building project.

Building materials are so costly in Nigeria because most of it is imported. In fact, materials costs I've risen by over 150% in the last 15 months due to covid effect and the continuous falling price of Naira.

At this juncture, I've closely exhausting my liquid Hive and tokens and contemplating to power-down some tokens especially now that time is really a constraint to finishing and moving into the apartment. However, powering down would take some time on before the tokens become liquid.

In any case, if the amount earned on the posts from today is sufficient, the powering down won't hold, however,m even if it gets down to that, I'll start powering up again once the project is done. In all, I know Hive is a great place to crowdfund for your real life projects.Our posts by default are invitation for voluntary donation by stakeholders.
