I took my camera to Yaque beach over the weekend, with the purpose of bringing good content to all the travelers and adventurers of @pinmapple that someday want to come to Margarita Island. This is just a part of the many things you can do on the island; however, Yaque is one of the best places in the world for Windsurfing and Kitesurfing.
Fans of these sports come from all over the world because they know that here they have good wind, the sea is not so deep and we have sun all year round, so they can plan a stay on the island for any season of the year.
El fin de semana me lleve mi cámara a playa el Yaque, con la finalidad de traerles un buen contenido a todos los viajeros y aventureros de @pinmapple que algún día deseen venir a la Isla de Margarita. Esto es solo una parte de las muchas cosas que puedes hacer en la isla; sin embargo, El Yaque es uno de los mejores lugares del mundo para hacer Windsurf y Kitesurf. Los aficionados de estos deportes vienen de todas partes del mundo ya que saben que aquí tienen buen viento, el mar no es tan profundo y tenemos sol todo el año, por lo que pueden planificar unas estadías en la isla para cualquier temporada del año.
This is the main entrance to Yaque beach. This community currently has several hotels to offer travelers, restaurants, a mini mall next to where the Windsurfing and Kitesurfing school is located and from here you can take a Catamaran or boat to Coche Island, so in reality, many tourists when they come, only stay in this area. For that reason, today I bring you some things to do in Yaque beach and its surroundings.
Esta viene siendo la entrada principal de Playa el Yaque. Esta comunidad actualmente tiene varios hoteles para ofrecerle a los viajeros, restaurantes, un mini centro comercial junto al lado del donde está la escuela de Windsurf y Kitesurf y desde aquí se sale en Catamarán o lancha a la isla de Coche, por lo que en realidad, muchos turistas cuando vienen, solo se quedan en esta zona. Por esa razón, hoy les traigo algunas cosas para hacer en playa el Yaque y sus alrededores.
This is the entrance of the "Hotel The Winds of Margarita" which you can find on social networks as: hotelthewinds and right next to it is the windsurfing school. I don't know the prices of the stay but I can tell you that the national beers cost 1 dollar because it was just what I ordered that day. But I found the food dishes extremely expensive, so later I will give you the information of a restaurant with the 2B "Good and Cheap", it is not nice but the people are very friendly and the service is excellent.
Esta es la entrada del "Hotel The Winds of Margarita" que lo pueden encontrar en redes sociales como: hotelthewinds y justo al lado está la escuela de Windsurf. No sé los precios de la estadía pero si les puedo decir que las cervezas nacionales cuestan 1 dólar porque fue justo lo que pedí ese día. Pero los platos de comida me parecieron extremadamente caro, por lo que más adelante les daré el dato de un restaurante con las 2B "Bueno y Barato", no es bonito pero la gente es muy amable y la atención es excelente.
Anyway, to give you an idea of the prices in this area, they range from 10 dollars per plate, for example that day I wanted to eat a portion of tostones and they were worth 8 dollars, the fish with garnish was worth 15 dollars and the shrimp and prawns were worth 18 dollars. Drinks such as mojitos, moscow mule and pina colada were 5 dollars. So I decided to visit a place that is 10 minutes away from the Yaque called "Restaurant Maglillo. Where Oleida" and below I will explain how to get there.
De todos modos para que tengan una idea de los precios por esta zona, rondan desde los 10 dólares por plato, por ejemplo ese día tenia ganas de comerme una ración de tostones y valían 8 dólares, el pescado con contorno valía 15 dólares y los camarones y langostinos rebosados valían 18 dólares. Los tragos como los mojitos, moscow mule y piña colada, tenían un valor de 5 dólares. Así que decidí conocer un lugar que queda a 10 minutos del Yaque que se llama "Restaurante el Maglillo, donde Oleida" y más abajo les explicaré cómo llegar.
This is the Windsurf and Kitesurf School, it is right in front of the restaurant/hotel and you can find them in their social networks as vivawindsurf and zonakitemgta. The prices of the Windsurfing lessons are $200 for 10 hours and the Kitesurfing lessons are $360 for 6 hours. And after you learn, the cost of the equipment is $10 per hour.
Esta es la Escuela de Windsurf y Kitesurf, está justamente en frente del restaurante/hotel y los puedes encontrar en sus redes sociales como vivawindsurf y zonakitemgta. Los precios de las clases de Windsurf 200$ dólares duración 10 horas y los de Kitesurf 360$ dólares 6 horas. Y ya luego de que aprendes, el costo de los equipos 10$ dólares la hora.
Both water sports are born from surfing, but the difference lies in their equipment. Windsurfing uses a board with a sail, which is exactly as you see it in the picture.
Ambos deportes acuáticos nacen del surf, pero la diferencia se encuentra en su equipación. En el Windsurf se utiliza una tabla con vela, que es exactamente como lo ven en la fotografía.
While in Kitesurfing is with this equipment that you see in this other picture and comes into play a kite or paraglider that allows the kiter to rise as if you were flying, but weather conditions are of great importance, so they prefer the Yaque, as it is said to be the perfect environment for this sport.
Mientras que en el Kitesurf es con este equipo que ven en esta otra fotografía y entra en juego una cometa o parapente que permite al kiter elevarse como si estuvieses volando, pero las condiciones climáticas tienen una gran importancia, por eso prefieren el Yaque, ya que se dice que es el ambiente perfecto para este deporte.
On the other hand, there is also "The Banana" which I don't particularly like because the intention of the boat will always be to knock you down and it is very painful, but still when you are a teenager nothing hurts. I am not clear about the prices of this entertainment but it must be between $5 to $15 dollars per half hour or so I think.
Por otro lado, también existe "La Banana" que en particular no me gusta mucho porque la intención de la lancha siempre será tumbarte y es muy doloroso, pero igual cuando eres adolescente nada te duele. No tengo claro los precios de este entretenimiento pero debe estar entre $5 a $15 dólares la media hora o eso creo.
Here you can see some shots I took and in the background you can see several people practicing both sports and that dock you see there, is an entertainment for children, as they run and jump as if it were a trampoline.
Por aquí pueden ver algunas tomas que realicé y de fondo se ven varias personas practicando ambos deportes y ese muelle que ven ahí, es un entretenimiento para los niños, ya que salen corriendo y se lanzan como si fuese un trampolín.
Also when the sun is setting, the view is spectacular and people gather at the pier to take pictures.
También cuando está cayendo el sol, la vista es espectacular y la gente se reúne en ese muelle, para sacar fotografías.
When the sunset is falling, they pick up all the stuff and while I was taking pictures I realized how careful they are with the surf equipment, they wash with fresh water everything that is used in the sea so that things last longer.
Ya cuando está cayendo el atardecer, recogen todas las cosas y mientras sacaba fotos me daba cuenta lo cuidadosos que son con los equipos de surf, lavan con agua dulce todo lo que es utilizado en el mar para que las cosas duren m ás tiempo.
Kitesurfing equipment is carried with air around the edges and although it looked like it didn't weigh anything, I saw that he was struggling for a while in the wind so it wouldn't blow away. So from a distance it seemed to be easy but I realized that they were explaining to a 16 year old boy how to get on the board and I think it lasted more than 2 hours and he never got on, so I realized that it is not so easy from what I could see and maybe because of that and that the equipment is expensive to maintain, is the high price of the classes. Because it actually seemed very overpriced to me.
Los equipos del Kitesurf se llevan con aire por los bordes y aunque pareciera que no pesara nada, vi que estuvo un rato luchando entre el viento para que no se le volará. Por lo que de lejos pareciera ser fácil pero me di cuenta que estuvieron explicándole a un chico de 16 años cómo debía subirse en la tabla y creo que duro más de 2 horas y nunca se subió, así que por ahí me di cuenta que no es tan fácil por lo que pude ver y capaz por eso y que los equipos son costosos manteneros, es el precio tan elevado de las clases. Porque en realidad me pareció muy sobre valorado.
However; I found the place very nice and well kept. So this could be a unique experience to do on Margarita Island and if you come with the idea of learning, I think the stay should be at least a month.
Sin embargo; el lugar me pareció muy lindo y cuidado. Por lo que esta podría ser una experiencia única para hacer en la isla de Margarita y si vienes con la idea de aprender, creo que la estadía debería ser al menos un mes.
Drumming is one of the traditions in Venezuela and in Margarita Island these groups frequent the island with their costumes playing some typical songs from here in order to cheer up the tourists and let them know a little of what Venezuelan music is. Besides, their objective is also to support them with the monetary collaboration that they can give them and I think it is nice; at least they are doing something good, the music and the talent they have is incredible.
El tambor es una de las tradiciones en Venezuela y en la isla de Margarita frecuentan estos grupos con sus vestimentas tocando algunas canciones típicas de aquí con la finalidad de alegrar a los turista y que conozcan un poco de lo que es la música venezolana. Aparte también su objetivo es que los apoyen con la colaboración monetaria que puedan darles y me parece lindo; al menos están haciendo algo bueno, ya la música y el talento que tienen es increíble.
Now I tell you the place where I ate. On the same street as the airport, there is an entrance as if you were going to Playa El Yaque, but this time if you want to get to the community where the restaurant "The Manglillo" is located, you will take the same avenue that takes you to El Yaque, which is a long street:

En la misma calle del aeropuerto, está antes una entrada como si fueses a playa el Yaque, pero en esta oportunidad si quieres llegar a la comunidad donde se encuentra el restaurante "El Manglillo", vas a agarrar la misma avenida que te lleva al Yaque, que es una calle larga:
With the difference that this time you will go slowly to cross to the right hand side where you will see a sign that says "MUSIPAN":
Con la diferencia de que esta vez vas a ir despacio para cruzar a mano derecha donde verás un letrero que dice "MUSIPAN":
Then you're going to get a kind of bridge with a Y:

And passing the bridge, you will take on your left hand side. The terrain is dirt:

And you will follow this road straight ahead, when you see this lake, you are almost there (it is not very far):

Be warned, do not expect a luxury place, as it is a very small and humble community, where there are only two restaurants and several houses, but you will meet very nice people who will make you feel at home. When you see this entry:
Te advierto, no esperes un sitio de lujo, ya que es una comunidad muy pequeña y humilde, donde solo hay dos restaurantes y varias casas, pero eso sí, conocerás personas muy amables que te harán sentir como en casa. Cuando veas esta entrada:
It means that you are already entering the village, it is a fishing community but very friendly. You will see two restaurants, one is called "Rancho de Aura" and the other, which is where I ate, is called "The Manglillo".
Quiere decir que ya estas entrando al pueblo, es una comunidad de pescadores pero muy amables todos. Verás dos restaurantes, uno se llama "Rancho de Aura" y el otro que es donde comí, se llama "El Manglillo".

The food is very plentiful and inexpensive. What you will see in the photo cost $15 dollars and it was so much that we had to order half of everything to go. There were 2 of us and the plates could easily have been for 4 people.
La comida es muy abundante y económica. Lo que verán en la foto costó $15 dólares y era tanto que tuvimos que pedir para llevar la mitad de todo. Eramos 2 y los platos fácilmente pudieron haber sido para 4 personas.
This community is still known by few people, but even so, the place was not alone:

And as I said before, it's not fancy, but the food is very good and so is the beach in front of the restaurants:

On my way back I decided to stop by "MUSIPAN" but I got a surprise, it was abandoned. I felt a deep sadness because it was always a very nice place where you could stay, it was very iconic on the island. I also wanted to share it, so you don't waste your time going there, because you will see everything desolate. Hopefully someday they will rebuild it again.
De regreso decidí pasar por "MUSIPAN" pero me lleve una sorpresa, estaba abandonado. Sentí una profunda tristeza porque siempre fue un lugar muy lindo donde podías quedarte, era muy icónico en la isla. Quería también compartirlo, para que no pierdan el tiempo metiéndose hacia allá, ya que verán todo desolado. Esperemos que algún día lo vuelvan a reconstruir.
