Hiking in Vienna 🍂 (New drama on Hive, newbie scammer network revealed?)

Einem User wird vorgeworfen ein Newbie-Scammer-Netzwerk zu betreiben, und Geld von neuen Usern für die Account-Erstellung zu verlangen und dann in deren Namen zu posten und auch Dutzende Sock-Puppet Accounts zu betreiben.

Wenn das stimmt, ist das natürlich nicht in Ordnung.

Sowohl das Verlangen von Geld von neuen Usern als auch das Betreiben von Sock-Puppets widerspricht dem Gedanken von Hive, da damit die Community zum Zweck der persönlichen Bereicherung getäuscht wird und wir eigentlich neue User ohne Bezahlung onboarden möchten (außer eine kleine Creation-Fee gegen Spam).

Account-Tokens bekommen User mit circa 5K Hive-Power gratis und damit kann man neue Accounts erstellen. Ich habe dafür nie Geld verlangt und werde das auch nie tun, da es in unser aller Interesse ist, neue User onchain zu bringen.

Ich und viele andere Hiver machen die Community-Arbeit ehrenamtlich, ohne dafür Geld zu verlangen.

Ausnahme wäre aber, wenn man eine Consulting-Dienstleistung anbieten würde und sich über die Bezahlung im Vorhinein einigt. Dann wäre es ok.

Das war allerdings in der aktuellen Causa anscheinend nicht der Fall und es wurden angeblich sogar die Keys missbräuchlich verwendet, um etwas unter einem anderen Account zu posten und deren Rewards zu transferieren.

Wenn jemand für euch einen Account erstellt, dann ändert danach eure Keys und speichert diese an einem sicheren Ort, am besten mehrfach ab.

Da der Fall auch unsere Wiener Community betrifft, hoffe ich dass wir die Causa rasch aufklären können.

Jedenfalls ist diese Vorgangsweise, wenn sie stimmt, für mich nicht in Ordnung und ich werde mich von dem beteiligten Account distanzieren.

A user on Hive is accused of running a newbie scammer network, and charging money to new users for account creation and then posting in their name and also running dozens of sock puppet accounts.

If true, this is obviously not okay.

Both asking for money from new Hivers and running sock puppets goes against the spirit of Hive in my opinion, as it deceives the community for the purpose of personal enrichment, and we actually want to onboard new users without asking for money (except a small creation fee to prevent spam).

Account tokens are given to users with about 5K Hive power for free and can be used to create new accounts. I have never charged for this and never will, as it is in all of our interest to bring new users onchain.

I and many other hivers do community work on a volunteer basis, without asking for money.

An exception would be to offer a paid consulting service and agree on payment in advance. Then that would be ok.

However, in the current case, this was apparently not the case and allegedly even the keys were misused to post something under another account and transfer their rewards.

Not your Keys, not your Cryptos.

If someone creates an account for you, then change your keys afterwards and save them in a safe place, preferably multiple times.

Since this case also concerns our community in Vienna, I hope that we will be able to clear up the matter quickly.

In any case, this scheme, if it is true, is not okay for me and I will distance myself from the account involved.
