Nvidia wants to limit GeForce RTX 30 series cards for Ethereum mining

English

Nvidia wants to throttle the Ethereum mining performance of GeForce RTX 30xx graphics cards with a driver update. Not good.

There has been a shortage economy in graphics cards, some PC components and microchips for months now.

Nvidia now blames the miners, although the bottleneck also has other reasons (hint C word) and now wants to make mining impossible for the graphics cards of the new RTX 30 series with a software update and offer its own graphics card series (CMP) for miners.

Graphics cards can be used for encoding videos, complex calculations, AI and also for mining some cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, in addition to gaming.

I don't think a hardware vendor has the right to decide what customers use the hardware for.

That would be just like a car manufacturer blocking certain trips via a software update and making it impossible to use a car for delivery and cab trips, for example, and then offering a car that is twice as expensive and identical for those purposes.

Don't think Nvidia will get away with this. If Nvidia were to really implement this, there would be alternative drivers in no time that would unlock mining again.

The solution must be to expand production and not artificially limit the use of graphics cards.

What do you think about this development?
