I have been taking part in Guilds since they started. I'm a proud member of Roaring twenties which is #8 among all Guilds in existence. So far, there are 928 Guilds burning DEC and playing together. From what I can see, not even 5% of them are Max Level Guilds. Most of the newcomers to the game are not a part of any Guild. DEC burns are only going to go high as time progress and once these new players start earning enough to be a participant. @mattclarke should be proud to lead a team so far ahead the competition.

Today I Earned My First Merits

You must have submitted all your teams to earn any Merits for your contributions. I would prefer if there were only a penalty for missing 1-2 submissions because sometimes browsers crash or internet issues come up. I would consider that a positive improvement.

On the positives, we will be seeing a lot more participation from Guild Members in the Brawls. There will also be the incentive to upgrade the Arena to allow better member participation.

What You Can Buy For Yourself

The Store Needs To Leveled Up

Based on my expereince in the Guild, I think the bottleneck would be acquiring sufficient Crowns. We can find a way to get enough DEC. Sometimes enough DEC is collected for an upgrade even before I get to contribute.

32 Gladiators Are Soul Bound

There is no disadvantage in Raked Battles for not having Gladiator Cards. Whatever the negatives I face are limited to Guild participation (at least for now). I want to make sure I have the best odds in my side when opening Gladius Cases. Waiting till Store is upgrades is a wait I'm willing to go through.

Less Constrained Supply

This is one aspect that is similar to other Collectible Card Games. Since there is no open market for these NFTs, there are less things to worry about when it comes to tokenomics. I other words; Gladiator Cards may not run out of print any time soon. @splinterlands may change these things when they think it would help the game. I will also expect SPS DAO to be very much involved in the future in decision making like this.

Current Strategy

I feel that the best path to take is playing the waiting game with resources. There is a great use case for Upgrading Barracks, especially with the Surge I perk. You are free to take your preferred path forward. I'm laying out mine so that you can take more informed decisions. You can join the game here.

Happy Gaming!
