3rd December 2022.

The Splinterlands team released a brand new sales policy and their Christmas sale recently.

It's an exciting time for the community to see the team working out the kinks in their operations and doing something great.

In Part 1 about sales, we are looking at the team's sale policy. We will look at the Christmas sale in Part 2.

Let's dive into it.

TLDR of post

You can catch the full post here if you are so inclined.

Here is a TLDR of the important points:

  • Sales are designed to attract new capital and players.
  • Achieve advertising purposes for big organisations to join Splinterlands.
  • Volume discounts above and beyond those available all year round in the in-game Shop.
  • Operational processes to adapt to the ever-changing industry.
  • Timing of sales

Initial response

I am very exciting that the Splinterlands team has taken a step in this direction to bring sales into the game.

For context, the team has openly spoken out against running sales on numerous townhalls.

The main reason against sales is that it dilutes the value of assets in the same, bringing the prices of cards and packs down and hurting the community, since the majority of us are asset holders.

My joy in hearing the news of a sale is 2 fold:

Firstly, it gives the community an opportunity to continue acquiring assets at a sustainable rate. Maybe one day I will have a full Gold League Chaos Legion set.

Secondly, many of us in the community are worried about the state of the game. From the latest TownHall, the number of comments coming in to ask "How we can contribute?" is immense.

We love the game and want to see the company be successful. We want to continue to grow our assets in tandem with the company.

Sales give us normal people a way of participating in keeping the game afloat in crazy bear markets, albeit in a smaller way (We are not accredited investors, unfortunately).

In closing

So, I'm very happy to see progress made in the Splinterlands team again :)

Happy to be here with Splinterlands to play the game and see it progress.

Once again, you can read the full post here to see the full picture of where the team is coming from.

Next, we will look at the Christmas sale in Part 2!

Until next time!
