Did anyone use to collect cards when they were younger. I used to collect Marvel ones myself. As you can guess by my name I wasn't the most athletic so I didn't have any sports cards but I did have a small collection of the marvel ones. There was something exciting about card collecting. You would buy the pack and not know what cards you were going to get. Then you put them in a binder and tried to collect all of them from that collection.

Card collecting is a still a thing today but it is an expensive hobby with some sports cards going for a lot of money. And now not only can you buy cards IRL but you can also buy NFTs that you can collect and trade.

NFT Cards

An NFT card is a collectable card that is on the blockchain. NFTs can be tracked and are limited. There will only be so many minted of each card and you will have a number of which card is yours. For example there might be 50 Jordan cards and the card you have is number 23 of 50.

In order for these cards to have value they need to be limited and only created so often. The price will be determined by the buyers. It is the same as collecting cards in real life but it is still brand new so it is yet to be seen how well they will do over the years.

Lebron's Dunk

The ones for the NBA Top Shot are moments in the game. The NFT looks like a cube and you can replay the moment on the card. This one of an incredible dunk by Lebron sold for $26,654 USD which is the value of a nice car. There are only 49 in circulation and this was #9

I will be curious to see which other brands comes out with these and am excited for in-game NFTs to become the norm for gaming. I might get some virtual items if it is a game I'm playing.
