The Future Of The Internet: Ownership Of Everything Digital

I see a world coming where you will own everything that you do online. From your data to the items in the game you are playing you will have full ownership of them and will be able to trade and transfer them as you wish. Networks like Ethereum and Hive might become the new internets of tomorrow where everything is built and everything has value. We could be looking at the early days of a shift in the digital space one that is akin to the early days on the internet. The world is about to change and it is giving more value to your time and effort that you spend online.

The New Internet

Back in the early days of the internet no one really understand why it was such a big deal or that it would be the powerhouse that it was today. I'm starting to feel that way about blockchain now. Since blockchain is not really user-friendly yet it is hard to picture it as prevalent at the internet but when every dapp is running smoothly and blockchain is in the background I don't see why anyone would want to use an application that is not on a blockchain. The internet has changes the way we live and work and blockchain is going to change how we use the internet.

Ownership Of Everything

Right now you might have one dapp you use and owning your digital things is a novelty. But what happens when every dapp you use is on a blockchain. You will get used to owning the content that you make and selling the games that you buy. Photographers can have full ownership of their work as could writers. You could buy anything digital and actually own it and sell it back later or give to a friend. Music, games, video and social media all on the blockchain. The online world is going to shift to a world where everything has scarcity and value. Every in-game item and every blog post is yours and you can do whatever you want with it. They can all be NFTs which gives them scarcity.

More Opportunities To Make A Living

This will also open the world of freelance as there will be a lot more ways to make a living online then in the past. You might see a lot more jobs where people can earn enough to get by playing a game or using a site. There will be a lot more value and those willing to put in the work can make money wherever they are.

This is a massive shift in the way the internet works and once it happens it will be impossible to go back. In the future the internet will probably be run on several blockchains and you will use your apps on these blockchains. I don't know which blockchains or how well they will be inter-connected to make them cross-chain but at some point I can see the entire internet be on a blockchain and every digital item be given ownership.
