When We Use Crypto And Blockhain And Don't Know It Then We Are Mainstream

Everyone is talking about bitcoin and the meteoric rise that some alt coins have had this week. If this run is anything like the one in 2017 this might be followed by a lot of products that will come out that are labelled at "crypto" or "blockchain" as it is a way to attract users and investors. Some might be good and some might just slap on the label to make a quick buck.

Now I do think we should ride this wave as far as it will take us and it can be a great way to get a lot of attention to the crypto world yet again. But at the end of the day if we are looking for millions of users to use a dapp that dapp needs to work like a regular app.

Oh I'm On The Blockchain?

Here is the thing a lot of people do not care about the technology or if bitcoin is worth a $1,000,000. We care but we are all nerds here. But what people do care about is using an dapp on their phone that pays them for their work and time. And even that will only attract so many users unless people are making a lot of money. There needs to be more than that. We need to see dapps that run smoothly and for people to use them cause they excel at what they do. And we need to get to the point where people just log in and use them as they would any other program and do not think about their keys or gas fees.

We cannot depend on the idea that people should research crypto or get into it. That is not a way to run a successful business. We need to understand why people do and do not use an app and tailor it to their needs. Maybe in 10 years crypto will be normal but until then we can only see a lot of users when they do not even know they are using a blockchain dapp.

A Seamless Experience

The biggest thing is that seamless experience. A lot of users will not want to worry about keys or a wallet and just want to sign in with an email and use the dapp. A lot of people want to try out something and do not want to spend more than 5 minutes to see if it is something they would want to spend more time on. Having to write down all this info and back-up your stuff just to see if you like something is not a good way to attract a lot of users. We need the option to make it as easy as possible to use and sign-up for people.

I am happy to see a lot of attention coming to crypto and this upcoming year can be a big one but we cannot squander it. This wave will only last so long and we need to make sure there is substance behind it. The technology is great and there are a lot of opportunities here we just need to tailor them to make UI user-friendly and this can be the future we wanted to see.
