Cutting Costs: I Made A $6 Office Jacket ๐
I wore jackets most of the time I worked in an office because they were really functional. It helps with the freakishly cold AC blowing in the office, it's in line with the dress code and I literally wore the same two jackets everyday. I don't have a job now but I have plans of scouting for one soon so a jacket is necessary because I didn't travel home with my two jackets.
I've been trying to improve my sewing by making my own clothes so I decided to make a jacket instead of buying one. I got this cashmere fabric for about $5 and lining fabric for less than $1.
The jacket is a shawl jacket pattern I learnt recently. The collar is cut together with the rest of the jacket and it's a rounded collar. I also included a welt pocket on each of the front sides.
It was kinda hard taking a lot of process photos while I worked because I was mostly stressed trying to figure out how to make the welt pockets but I have some photos here.
Here's the pattern drafting and cutting

Making a neat finish on the sleeves
I closed the hem of the jacket with a neat finish inside out and turned the jacket back to the right side from an opening I left in the lining. I then closed the opening with a top stitch

This is my entry to the #beeinspired content creation contest. I was definitely inspired to make this and then write about it.
