This trend has been all over my feed and I hope I'm not late to the party. I have told my hive story a couple of times in the past and it's one I can't get tired of telling because hive was a major change for me. Thanks to @snook for coming up with these questions and outlining them here for ease.

How long have you been on the Blockchain?

Technically, I've been on the blockchain since 2018 but have only been active since April of last year.

What was your background in Cryptocurrency when you first came to the blockchain?

I had no prior knowledge of cryptocurrency except for constantly seeing people I followed on Twitter talk about bitcoin and other coins they were trading. It all sounded technical and I thought I would need a huge sum to purchase any cryptocurrency which of course, I didn't have money for.

What was your background in writing when you first came to the blockchain?

Before coming to hive, I used to write a lot on my WordPress blog and it was one of the few things that made me feel good. Although a free WordPress blog wasn't exactly mine, I liked that my work was out there for people to read and I loved the little engagement I got from people. I also tried my hand at poetry on Wattpad then and it was a thrill getting a response from people from all parts.

There weren't any monetary returns for my effort doing all of these and a girl needed money. I didn't know how to monetize writing so I aggressively advertised on my socials that I wrote final year project work for students in my field of study and I did get customers. That was my first experience monetizing my writing.

How many people did you know when you first came to the Blockchain?

When I first came to the blockchain (actively) I knew only my husband @belemo because it was he who brought me back here. Unlike my friend who first told me about hive, he guided me and I found my way around almost immediately.

How did you meet people when you first came to the Blockchain?

Meeting people was the easy part, all I had to do was engage a person if I liked their content and they usually responded, then I'd proceed to follow them. They then become people I regularly interact with. I also actively engaged anyone who commented on my posts. That's how I came to know people like @lauramica, @selfhelp4trolls, @starstrings01, @merit.ahama and many others.

Who did you look up to when you first came to the blockchain?

None other than @belemo of course. His account had the engagement I could only aspire to have and I wanted to move up from my less than a dollar upvotes so bad. I took a cue from how well he presented his articles and tried to do the same for myself.

I soon came across @macchiata and I was so impressed by her page that I got lost in her old posts. I love the way she writes and all that she contributes to hive. I have since looked up to her here.

How would you describe your first three months on the blockchain?

My first three months were exciting for me because I was doing something I loved and earning a few dollars while at it. It was a whole new discovery and I kept being consistent even at times when I was earning little to nothing from my posts. I knew consistency was needed to succeed in this new world and I kept going.

At the time, I was newly unemployed so the fact that I could tender to some of my needs and not be idle made me enjoy hive those first months.

Has being a part of the blockchain changed you in any way for the good?

Ah, yes. It changed the way I place value on my time. Before hive, I was willing to do any job for meagre pay. Then I saw that being on hive gave me better value for my time than those shitty jobs so I stopped applying for/accepting them.

What is your favorite memory from your time on the blockchain?

I've had some amazing moments here, mostly the ones where I won contests and the times when I got gifts randomly from people.

If you could give advice to a new person signing up to Hive what would it be?

First, enjoy yourself. I find that the people I invite to hive think they need to have some killer, New York Times type of content to thrive here and that holds them back. I'd advise them to find their niche, explore the communities and have fun while at it. Also, focus on engaging people like a real human and not a robot.

...And that's my hive story! What's yours?
